The William & Mary Tribe (8-10, 3-2 CAA) will try to slow down one of the nation’s top scoring teams when they are on the road to face the No. 22 Charleston Cougars (18-1, 6-0 CAA) on Monday. William & Mary squeaked by the UNCW Seahawks 69-67 at Raiford G. Trask Coliseum on Saturday.
Charlie Williams was the key player with 15 points. The Tribe remain fifth in the Colonial Athletic Conference. Charleston won their 17th in a row in impressive fashion on Saturday at TD Arena, beating the Elon Phoenix 78-60. Dalton Bolon had 21 points, leading the team. The Cougars remain first in the Colonial Athletic Conference.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Charleston won both matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was an 84-61 triumph at Kaplan Arena in February 2022, their third straight head-to-head victory. Brenden Tucker led the Cougars with 21 points. Connor Kochera had 17 points in defeat.
The Tribe have been led this season by Anders Nelson (11.4 ppg), Gabe Dorsey (10.6), and Ben Wight (10.4). Nelson also has dished 4.7 assists per game. Meanwhile, Noah Collier is grabbing 8.5 rebounds per game.Bolon has been the primary provider of the Cougars’ offense, averaging 13.6 points per game.
Jaylon Scott is averaging 5.2 rebounds per game, and Ryan Larson is recording 4.1 assists. The Cougars are one of the top scoring offenses in the nation, ranking 30th with 80.2 points per game.
