The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (8-4, 0-1 ACC) will try to overcome one of the NCAA’s top scoring defenses when they play host to the No. 12 Duke Blue Devils (10-2, 1-0 ACC) on Tuesday.
Duke outplayed the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks 82-55 at Cameron Indoor Stadium on December 10, their fourth win in a row. With 15 points apiece, Tyrese Proctor and Dariq Whitehead were the leading scorers. Kyle Filipowski was another key contributor with 14 points.
Wake Forest lost in blowout fashion on Saturday at Jersey Mike’s Arena, falling to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 81-57. Damari Monsanto had 22 points in the loss, carrying the team. The teams are meeting for the only time this season.
Duke won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 76-74 triumph at Cameron Indoor Stadium on February 15, their fourth straight head-to-head victory. Mark Williams led the Blue Devils with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Tyree Appleby’s 18.0 points per game have powered the Demon Deacons on offense. Appleby also has tallied 5.1 assists per game. Cameron Hildreth has averaged 6.3 rebounds per game.
The Blue Devils are holding opponents to 58.7 points per game, ranking as one of the toughest scoring defenses in the NCAA (15th).
