The Florida State Seminoles (7-14, 5-5 ACC) will try to break down one of the country’s top shooting defenses when they host the No. 24 Clemson Tigers (17-4, 9-1 ACC) on Saturday.
Clemson dominated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 72-51 at Littlejohn Coliseum on Tuesday. PJ Hall was the key player with 17 points. The Tigers are first in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Florida State lost in blowout fashion on Tuesday at Donald L. Tucker Center, falling to the Miami (FL) Hurricanes 86-63. Caleb Mills scored 12 points to top the scoresheet in the loss. The Seminoles remain 10th in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Clemson and Florida State split their matchups last season, taking one game apiece. The Seminoles took the last meeting 81-80 at Donald L. Tucker Center in February 2022. RayQuan Evans led the Seminoles with 28 points. Hall had 28 points in defeat.
Hunter Tyson and Hall, averaging 15.5 and 13.5 points per game, respectively, are leading the Tigers in scoring this season. Tyson also has grabbed 10.0 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Chase Hunter is dishing 3.7 assists per game.Darin Green Jr. (14.1 ppg), Matthew Cleveland (14.0), and Mills (13.0) have supplied much of the Seminoles’ offense.
Cleveland also has averaged 8.0 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Jalen Warley has distributed 3.8 assists per game. The Tigers rank as one of the stingiest FG% defenses in the country, holding opponents to a 19th-lowest rate of 39.3%. The Tigers have struggled in recent games at Donald L. Tucker Center, losing eight of the last 10.
