The No. 19 Providence Friars (14-3, 6-0 Big East) will be out to add to their winning streak when they travel to face the Creighton Bluejays (9-8, 3-3 Big East) on Saturday.
Providence narrowly defeated the St. John’s Red Storm 83-80 at Amica Mutual Pavilion on Saturday, their ninth win in a row. Noah Locke was the leading scorer with 20 points. Devin Carter added 19 points.
The Friars fell to second in the Big East Conference. Creighton dropped a close one on Wednesday at Cintas Center, falling to the Xavier Musketeers 90-87. Baylor Scheierman tallied 25 points to lead the team in scoring in defeat. With 15 points and four assists, Ryan Kalkbrenner also had an impressive game.
The Bluejays remain fifth in the Big East Conference. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. They last met in the Big East Conference Tourney semifinals when the Bluejays eliminated the Friars with an 85-58 victory at Madison Square Garden in March 2022.

Alex O’Connell led the Bluejays with 18 points, while Kalkbrenner was a key contributor with 15 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks. Al Durham had 21 points in the loss.
Bryce Hopkins is averaging 16.0 points per game to lead the Friars in scoring this season. Hopkins also has grabbed 9.1 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Jared Bynum is dishing 4.2 assists. Scheierman (13.1 ppg), Trey Alexander (12.8), and Arthur Kaluma (12.6) have supplied much of the Bluejays’ offense.
Scheierman also has pulled down 8.9 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Ryan Nembhard has recorded 5.5 assists per game.In the last 10 games, Providence is 9-1 with an average margin of +13.8 (81.8-68.0).
Creighton has a 3-7 record over the last 10, scoring 71.7 points per game on average while allowing 70.1 (+1.6 margin). The Bluejays are averaging 76.7 ppg for the full season while allowing 68.9.
