The Georgetown Hoyas (5-7, 0-1 Big East) will try to slow down one of the nation’s top scoring teams when they head to face the No. 2 UConn Huskies (12-0, 1-0 Big East) on Tuesday. Georgetown was defeated by the Xavier Musketeers 102-89 at Capital One Arena on Friday.
Primo Spears was the top scorer in defeat with 22 points. Brandon Murray chipped in with 15 points and six assists. UConn won their 12th in a row in impressive fashion on Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse, beating the Butler Bulldogs 68-46.
Adama Sanogo had 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead the team.This is the only meeting of the season between the teams. UConn won both matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was an 86-77 triumph at Capital One Arena on February 27, their fourth straight head-to-head victory.
R.J. Cole led the Huskies with 18 points. Dante Harris had 23 points in defeat. Spears is averaging 17.6 points per game to lead the Hoyas in scoring this season. Spears also has dished 4.6 assists per game. Meanwhile, Qudus Wahab is grabbing 7.7 rebounds. Sanogo (19.0 ppg) has been the primary provider for the Huskies on offense.
Sanogo also has collected 7.3 rebounds per game. Tristen Newton has doled out 4.3 assists per game. The Huskies are one of the most explosive offenses in the country, ranking 17th with 83.6 points per game.
