The Oklahoma Sooners (7-2), one of the nation’s top scoring defenses, welcome the No. 9 Arkansas Razorbacks (8-1) on Saturday. Arkansas beat the UNCG Spartans 65-58 at Bud Walton Arena on Tuesday, their fourth win in a row. Nick Smith Jr. was the scoring leader with 22 points.
Makhi Mitchell added 13 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks. Oklahoma won their fifth straight home game in impressive fashion on Tuesday at Lloyd Noble Center, beating the Kansas City Roos 75-53. Grant Sherfield had 24 points to lead the team.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Oklahoma came out on top in the only game between the teams last season 88-66 at Bank of Oklahoma Center in December 2021. EJ Harkless led the Sooners with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Davonte Davis had 26 points in defeat. Ricky Council IV is averaging 18.4 points per game to lead the Razorbacks in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Trevon Brazile is grabbing 6.0 rebounds per game, and Anthony Black is dishing 3.6 assists.
Sherfield has powered the Sooners’ offense, averaging 17.1 points per game. Sherfield also has doled out 4.4 assists per game. Tanner Groves has posted 6.9 rebounds per game. The Sooners rank as one of the top scoring defenses in the nation, 16th-best with 57.9 points per game allowed.
