The No. 23 Kentucky Wildcats (20-10, 11-6 SEC) will try to slow down one of the nation’s top shooting teams when they are on the road to face the Arkansas Razorbacks (19-11, 8-9 SEC) on Saturday.
Kentucky was narrowly beaten by the Vanderbilt Commodores 68-66 at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center on Wednesday. With 21 points, 20 rebounds, and three blocks, Oscar Tshiebwe led the way in defeat. The Wildcats remain third in the Southeastern Conference.
Arkansas lost in blowout fashion on Tuesday at Thompson-Boling Arena, falling to the Tennessee Volunteers 75-57. Davonte Davis had 13 points and six rebounds in defeat, carrying the team. The Razorbacks remain eighth in the Southeastern Conference. This is the last meeting of the season between the teams.
After taking the only prior season matchup against Kentucky 88-73 at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center on February 7, their third straight head-to-head victory, Arkansas will be aiming for a season sweep. Ricky Council IV led the Razorbacks with 20 points. Cason Wallace had 24 points in the losing effort.
The Wildcats have been led this season by Tshiebwe and Antonio Reeves, who are averaging 15.4 and 13.4 points per game, respectively. Tshiebwe also has grabbed 12.2 rebounds per game, third-most in the country.
Meanwhile, Wallace is dishing 4.1 assists per game. Council IV (16.6 ppg) has powered the Razorbacks’ offense. Makhi Mitchell is pulling down 5.7 rebounds per game, and Anthony Black is recording 4.2 assists.
The Razorbacks are one of the most accurate field goal shooting teams in the NCAA, ranking 25th at 48.0%. In the last 10 games, Kentucky is 6-4 with an average margin of +3.6 (72.7-69.1).
