The No. 4 Arizona Wildcats (6-0) tip off Pac-12 Conference play at home against the California Golden Bears (0-8, 0-1 Pac-12) on Sunday. California was beaten by the USC Trojans 66-51 at Haas Pavilion on Wednesday, their eighth straight loss. Devin Askew was the key player in the losing effort with 23 points.

Arizona won their sixth in a row in a close one on November 23 at Lahaina Civic Center, beating the Creighton Bluejays 81-79. Oumar Ballo had 30 points and 13 rebounds, carrying the team. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams.

Arizona won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was an 89-61 triumph at McKale Memorial Center on March 5, their 11th straight head-to-head victory. Ballo led the Wildcats with 16 points. Jordan Shepherd had 16 points in the losing effort.

The Golden Bears have been led this season by Askew, who is averaging 17.5 points per game. Askew also has dished 3.1 assists per game. Meanwhile, Lars Thiemann is grabbing 6.6 rebounds. Azuolas Tubelis (19.3 ppg) and Ballo (19.0) have supplied much of the Wildcats’ offense.

Ballo also has averaged 10.0 rebounds per game. Kerr Kriisa has distributed 7.5 assists per game. The Wildcats rank as the top scoring offense in the nation with 97.5 points per game. The Golden Bears have had little success at McKale Memorial Center in recent seasons, losing eight of the last 10 visits.
