Enjoy our free tennis picks and predictions for each round at Wimbledon for 2022.

Tatjana Maria vs Jule Niemeier

Not many would have predicted this Quarterfinal clash, as we see two unseeded German players go toe-to-toe for a spot in the Semifinals. Tatjana Maria has taken out three seeds on her way to the Quarters, the 26th seed Cîrstea, the fifth seed Sakkari and the 12th seed Ostapenko. Niemeier knocked out the second seed Kontaveit in the second round, and so far this tournament, she has only dropped one set.

Jeffery Thomas

The young German Jule Niemeier is continuing her Cinderella run through Wimbledon and is now In the Quarterfinals after taking down local fan favorite Heather Watson in straight sets. A lot of people had no idea who she was just last week but she surely made a name for herself on center court on Sunday. Her match was after the celebration of past Wimbledon champions so she had a lot of tennis legends with their eyes on her and she did not disappoint, only dropping 6 games the whole match. She now will take on her German friend Tatjana Maria who is also in her first Grand Slam Quarterfinal. The difference is, Maria is 34 and has been a pro for almost 20 years while Niemeier is just 22.

Tatjana has had a much tougher road to this point, having to take out world number 5 Maria Sakkari and former French Open Champion Jelena Ostapenko along the way. In the previous round against Ostapenko, Maria faced two match points on serve but dug deep and eventually took that set and later the match. Her serve and slice are huge weapons on the grass and it’s going to be difficult for the young Niemeier to deal with, as she’ll have to create her own pace on her powerful groundstrokes. A win here would make Maria the oldest first-time semi finalist of the Open Era, but I don’t expect it to be easy for either of these ladies. We are going to see a very tight match here and I love a play of the over total games as I don’t see either one running away with this one.

Jeffery’s Wimbledon Pick:

Total Games – Over 20.5 (-163)

Both Tatiana Maria and Jule Niemeier have made their best result on Wimbledon reaching the Quarterfinals this year. Maria is currently 103rd in the WTA rankings with her career-best being at no. 46. The German is 38-17 for the season and 9-4 on grass. She made a huge comeback in the previous round beating Jelena Ostapenko after being 5-7, 2-5 down. Previously, the 34-year-old went past Maria Sakkari, Sorana Cirstea and Astra Sharma. Maria’s best results this season are the titles in Bogota and Rome (USA).

Jule Niemeier is currently 97th in the WTA rankings with her career-best being three spots higher. She found her way to the Wimbledon Quarterfinals after defeating Heather Watson, Lesya Tsurenko, Anett Kontaveit and Xiju Wang in the previous rounds. Niemeier is 30-13 so far in the season and 5-2 on grass. She is 12 years younger than her fellow German opponent and has never played Maria before. Niemeier’s best result this season came in Makarska and Zagreb where she won the titles.

Marko’s Wimbledon Pick:

Match Winner – Niemeier (-175)

If you picked this as a quarterfinal congratulations to you as here we have an all German matchup between the world number 103 and 97. With just six ranking places between them, this is a match of a lifetime for both players with the huge carrot of a first ever career Grand Slam on the line. Both players have had some hugely impressive wins to advance this far. Maria has beaten seeded players in the form of Sorana Cirstea, Maria Sakkari and Jelena Ostapenko. In the twilight of her career, Maria has used every ounce of experience to reach this stage which includes an incredibly gutsy win over Ostapenko in which she battled from a set and 2-5 down, saving two match points along the way.

Her opponent Jule Niemeier is twelve years younger and Niemeier looks destined for big things in the game. Niemeier showed no signs of nerves as she batted Heather Watson away in the previous round to set up this opportunity. Her big win of the tournament so far is her dismantling of second seed Anett Kontaveit in straight sets. The key to the match up is whether Niemeier has the capacity to not let the occasion get on top of her. She is the better player, she is more powerful and should win this match if she can handle the pressure.

Jack’s Wimbledon Pick:

Set Betting – Niemeier 2-0 (+130)

Marie Bouzková vs Ons Jabeur (3)

Unseeded Marie Bouzková takes on the top seed left on the women’s side of the draw, Ons Jabeur, for a spot in the final four. Bouzková was the American slayer in the first three rounds, taking out Collins, Li and Riske, then in the Round of 16 she defeated Frenchwoman Garcia in straight sets. It has been a very comfortable ride for Jabeur up until the Round of 16, where she was pushed in two tight sets against the 24th seed, Mertens, 7-6(9), 6-4.

Jeffery Thomas

Ons Jabeur is into her second consecutive Wimbledon Quarterfinal after taking out the difficult Elise Mertens in the Round of 16, 7-6(9), 6-4. Jabeur is still unbeaten in the grass season and dating back to the start of the clay swing she is 26-4 overall. It’s been a lot of winning for her as she currently sits with a ranking of #2 and is the odds on favorite now to take home the Wimbledon trophy. To do so, she’ll now need to manoeuvre through another tough opponent and that is Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova. Bouzkova is leveling up before our eyes, as she had not made it past the second round in her previous 13 Grand Slam appearances.

She is now into the Quarterfinals after taking out the in-form Caroline Garcia who was coming off a title last week in Bad Homburg. It was a slow start to Wimbledon for the 23-year old who lost her first set of the tournament, but has since claimed 8 straight. To keep that streak alive would take a mammoth effort as Jabeur is 19-2 with two titles in the last two seasons on grass, while Bouzkova is winless in her four contests with top 5 opponents. I expect her to fight hard for every point like she usually does but that won’t be enough in this matchup, and I see Ons covering this spread.

Jeffery’s Wimbledon Pick:

Game Spread – Jabeur -3.5 (-188)

Ons Jabeur is one of the top favorites to win Wimbledon this year based on her ranking and recent form. The Tunisian is currently second in the WTA rankings which is her career-high. She is 34-9 for the season and 9-0 on grass. The 27-year-old has not lost a set so far in the tournament, defeating Elise Mertens, Diane Parry, Katarzyna Kawa and Miriam Bjorklund in straight sets. Her best result this season are the wins in Berlin and Madrid.

Marie Bouzkova has found the way to her first Grand Slam Quarterfinals after defeating Caroline Garcia, Alison Riske, Ann Li and Danielle Collins in the first four matches at Wimbledon. The Czech is currently 66th in the WTA rankings with her career-best being at no. 46. Bouzkova is 26-9 for the season and 4-1 on grass. Her best result this season is the final in Guadalajara where she lost to Sloan Stephens. Bouzkova has not won a title since 2019.

Marko’s Wimbledon Pick:

Set Betting – Jabeur 2-0 (-138)

I have been lucky to watch Marie Bouzkova a few times this season and every time I have watched her, I have always come away impressed. We reviewed Bouzkova’s first match of the tournament against Danielle Collins and although I picked Bouzkova to lose, I did predict she would take Collins all the way. Winning that contest in three tight sets, Bouzkova has won her next three contests in straight sets. Consistent but with great variety, Bouzkova looks at home on the grass and she will make this a contest for Ons Jabeur.

Jabeur and Bouzkova have never faced off before and this should be a fascinating battle. With the top half of the draw being wide open, both players will think if they can win this match they will have a great chance of reaching the final. Jabeur is the highest player left in the draw and she is playing full of confidence. Her win in the last 16 came in battling circumstances and the Tunisian had to be at her very best to sneak past Elise Mertens in two tight sets. Jabeur looks ready for her major breakthrough but this will be a tough match and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Czech pulls off the upset.

Jack’s Wimbledon Pick:

Match Winner – Bouzkova (+275)

Ajla Tomljanović vs Elena Rybakina (17)

Unseeded Australian, Ajla Tomljanović, continues her fabulous run at Wimbledon, making it all the way to the Quarterfinals, and standing in her way of a place in the Semifinals is the 17th seed, Elena Rybakina. Tomljanović has successfully taken out the 18th and 13th seeds on her way to the Quarters, and she has dropped two sets so far. Rybakina is yet to drop a set so far at Wimbledon, but three sets have been tie breakers, and she is yet to face another seeded player.

Jeffery Thomas

Ajla Tomljanovic is back in the Quarterfinals of Wimbledon for the second straight year after taking out Frenchwomen Alize Cornet in the Round of 16. It was the second consecutive match where Ajla had to storm back from a set down but she was able to get it done again, taking the second set 6-4 before taking the decider 6-3. She now will look to avenge her loss at last year’s Wimbledon Quarterfinal to Ash Barty by taking down Elena Rybakina who is rounding into some great form herself. Rybakina has played some very clutch tennis this tournament and has yet to drop a set despite the fact she has played a tiebreak in all of her matches except one. That one match was the previous one against Petra Martic that she won 7-5, 6-3.

That win put the 23-year old into her first Wimbledon Quarterfinal and she gets a very favorable matchup. The one time these two met, Elena won 6-4 6-0 as she converted over half of her break points (5/9). Both ladies like to duke it out from the baseline but the power is heavily on Rybakina’s side, and if she can keep the errors down I think she can overwhelm Tomljanovic in most of the rallies. Ajla is a fighter though and she has shown that countless times, so I don’t expect her to go down as easily as she did in their only other prior matchup.

Jeffery’s Wimbledon Pick:

Total Games – Over 20.5 (-154)

Ajla Tomljanovic has surprised many with her form this week in Wimbledon. She is currently 44th in the WTA rankings with her career-best being at no. 38. The Australian is coming off a 2-1 comeback win against Alize Cornet in the Round of 16 and she did the same in the third round against Barbora Krejcikova. In the first two rounds, the 29-year-old defeated Catherine Harrison and Jil Belen Teichmann. Tomljanovic is 19-16 for the season and 7-2 on grass.

Elena Rybakina won the only match against Tomljanovic 6-4, 6-0 last season in Madrid. The Kazakh is 23rd in the WTA rankings at the moment with no. 12 being her career-high. So far in Wimbledon, she defeated Petra Martic, Qinwen Zheng, Bianca Vanessa and Coco Vandeweghe. Rybakina is 25-12 for the season and 5-2 on grass. Her best result this season is the Final in Adelaide where she lost to Ashleigh Barty.

Marko’s Wimbledon Pick:

Match Winner – Rybakina (-182)

Another unlikely Quarterfinal where we will see Ajla Tomljanović take on Elena Rybakina. In a contest between two of the bigger servers on the WTA Tour, both players have had some great wins to advance this far. Rybakina is a player I really like following. Tall and athletic, Rybakina has a huge game. She has one of the best serves in the game and the grass should be the perfect surface for her. The battle for Rybakina is often between her ears and she can sometimes go for a wonder in the middle of her matches. She is the better player in this matchup but she will need to be fully firing mentally if she is to come out on top and reach her first ever Grand Slam Semifinal.

Ajla Tomljanović clearly likes it at SW19 as the Australian has reached her second consecutive Quarterfinal. Wimbledon is her best Grand Slam when it comes to results and she will be desperate to reach her first ever Slam Semifinal. Tomljanović is a great competitor and this has been evident in her last two matches. Her win over Alize Cornet in the last round was as gutsy as it comes, and she should arrive at this match full of confidence. The two have met just once before with Rybakina winning in straight sets. I don’t think the Kazakh will have things as easy as she did last time but should still have enough in her game to emerge victorious.

Jack’s Wimbledon Pick:

Set Betting – Rybakina 2-1 (+300)

Simona Halep (16) vs Amanda Anisimova (20)

The 2019 Wimbledon champion, Simona Halep will face off against the final American left on the women’s side of the draw, Amanda Anisimova. It’s been smooth sailing for the Romanian so far, winning all her matches in straight sets, with the closest set so far being a scoreline of 7-5. Anisimova has dropped two sets so far at Wimbledon, but she was completely dominant in her Round of 16 match, beating Tan, 6-2, 6-3.

Jeffery Thomas

The 2019 Wimbledon champ Simona Halep was honored on Sunday for her title and returned to center court on Monday to take down Spain’s Paula Badosa. It was a clinical performance for the Romanian who only lost three games during the entire match, breaking Badosa’s serve 5 times. Halep has not lost a set yet on this run to the Quarterfinal and had only let her opponent get to 5 games once in any of those sets. She is in a dangerous zone and is looking well on her way to claiming her second Wimbledon title if she can keep up this level for 3 more matches. Her next opponent is America’s Amanda Anisimova who put an end to the Cinderella run of Harmony Tan in an emphatic way.

Amanda beat Tan 6-2, 6-3 in just over an hour and is looking to gain a spot in a second Grand Slam Semifinal of her young career (2019 French Open). This matchup looks a lot like the Badosa one as Anisimova is strictly a base-liner who won’t have much variety to her game. Her serve is better which will lead to more free points, but as far as beating Halep with winners in baseline rallies, that is not going to happen. Simona is one of the best returners and movers in the game, and I see her having her way in this matchup again.

Jeffery’s Wimbledon Pick:

Game Spread – Halep -2.5 (-175)

This will definitely be the best Quarterfinal matchup this year at Wimbledon. Amanda Anisimova is one of the best players of the new wave and the way she plays may bring her to her first Grand Slam trophy this week. The American defeated Harmony Tan, Cori Gauff, Lauren Davis and Yue Yuan on the way to the Quarterfinals. The 20-year-old is 29-10 for the season and 6-1 on grass. Her best result of the season is the Final in Melbourne and the Semifinal in Charleston.

Simona Halep has won 2 of three matches against Anisimova so far including a 6-2, 6-1 win this year in Bad Homburg. Former no. 1 has found her way to the Quarterfinals after beating Paola Badosa, Magdalena Frech, Kirsten Flipkens and Karolina Muchova. The 2019 Wimbledon champion is currently at no. 18 in the WTA standings, and is 30-8 for the season and 10-1 on grass.

Marko’s Wimbledon Pick:

Match Winner – Halep (-238)

Simona Halep is rolling back the clock at this year’s Wimbledon Championship and produced one of the best performances of the year in her dismantling of world number four Paula Badosa. I actually picked Badosa to beat Halep, but the Romanian was in stunning form as she lost only three games en route to a comfortable win. Halep is the only Grand Slam winner left in the draw and she is yet to drop a set at this year’s Championships. A winner of this tournament back in 2019, Halep hasn’t played at the Championships since. She clearly has a love for the grass and should be a tough nut to crack.

Amanda Anisimova has reached her first ever Grand Slam Quarterfinal and has produced a string of terrific performances to advance this far. It’s hard to forget that Anisimova is only just 20 and has a huge future ahead of her. If Anisimova can string it all together and match consistency with her awesome power, she is one of the best players on the WTA Tour. Her win over Coco Gauff in the third round was one of her best career performances and she carried that form into her match against Harmony Tan where she dismantled her with ease. The head to head record between the two reads 2-1 to Halep, this could be the matchup of the round but I think Halep should just have enough and extend that record to 3-1.

Jack’s Wimbledon Pick:

Set Betting – Halep 2-1 (+290)
