Sun 27th November 2022

Millions around the world will be glued to their TV screens when the action heats up at the World Cup. Each team has played at least one game so far, and each group’s standings is starting to take shape. The action so far has been gripping, and we are certain to be in store for some more excitement today!

There is so much action to be had over the Group Stage, as 32 teams fight for the chance to make it to the Round of 16. There are eight groups in total with four teams in each group, and only the top two will make it through to the next round. Which teams will put their best foot forward and make it through to the next round?

Look below to find our free soccer picks for all the games on today’s FIFA World Cup schedule!

Cameroon vs Serbia – 5AM ET

Both Cameroon and Serbia will be looking to register their first win and goal here at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Cameroon’s first game was against Switzerland, and they lost their clash, 1-0. Serbia had a tough opening game, facing off against Brazil, and they ended up losing 2-0.

Tony Battalio

Cameroon comes into this game after a 1-0 loss to the Swiss in their first Group Stage matchup of the 2022 World Cup. Now they will be looking to bounce back against a Serbian team that also lost their first game and will be desperate to get at least a point in this one. The Cameroonians haven’t made it out of the Group Stage round of the World Cup since 1990 and in the last two World Cups they appeared in (2010 and 2014), they finished as the worst and second worst team that year.

Serbia also lost their first World Cup Group Stage game as they were outmatched by the presumed favorites Brazil. Now they will be looking to find the net for the first time and get their first win or draw of the tournament. They have won two World Cup titles in the past but have failed to make it out of the Group Stage in a while. I expect Cameroon to shock the world and get into the win column.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Cameroon (+400)

Despite Cameroon’s loss against Switzerland, I was positively surprised by their performance. The Eto’o project seems to be working, and the results are for everyone to see. Cameroon looks more of an athletic side that can outrun and outfight everyone. They were great on the ball, and even their defenders were calm and composed when building from the back. The newest addition to the squad, Mbeumo looked dangerous for the opposition every time he got the ball. Even though Cameroon might not be ready to compete in this World Cup, I am sure if they continue on this path, they will be a real force to be reckoned with for years to come.

Serbia played an impressive 30 minutes against Brazil. Their high press was working perfectly, and they had the game under control. However, as time passed, Brazil switched to a higher gear, and Serbia couldn’t cope with it. The midfield grew tired, and they lost all control of the game. However, Cameroon is not as good a team as Brazil is, so in this game, they will have an opportunity to show the world how capable they are. This won’t be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination and should be tons of fun for the neutral fans. I expect the unquestionable qualities of Vlahovic and Mitrovic to be the difference between the two sides. I am backing Serbia in a close win.

Cameroon and Serbia lost the opening games in Group G and this game is crucial for both teams. Cameroon will play Brazil in the last round, meaning that they see their chance in this game but the real question is, are they good enough to defeat Serbia? Rigobert Song’s team didn’t show much quality against Switzerland and will have real issues scoring in the duels with the Serbian giants in the defensive line.

Serbia, on the other hand, couldn’t hold to a draw against Brazil and all their vulnerabilities were shown. They basically didn’t have any shots on target in the 2-0 loss to Brazil and things will look much different in this game. Manager Stojkovic will start with an offensive lineup with at least two strikers, which wasn’t the case against Brazil. Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic saw limited time against Brazil and now will be on the pitch from the start. He and Aleksandar Mitrovic with Dusan Tadic feeding them with quality passes will prove deadly for the weak Cameroon defense and Serbia will win this game.

Serbia (-137)

South Korea vs Ghana – 8AM ET

In the second game of the day we will see South Korea up against Ghana, and both teams will be looking for their first win of the tournament. South Korea was up against Uruguay in their first game, which ended in a 0-0 draw. Ghana put up a bigger fight than many were expecting in their first game against Portugal, but they still lost that clash, 3-2.

Tony Battalio

South Korea and Uruguay played one of the best games of the tournament so far in their opening Group Stage games. Now the South Koreans will be looking to get their first win of the World Cup as well and put themselves one step closer to advancing to the knockout stages of the tournament. South Korea is playing in their tenth straight World Cup but they haven’t advanced out of the Group Stage since 2010, where they finished 15th in the Round of 16.

Ghana and Portugal had a thriller in their first game of the 2022 World Cup. Now Ghana will be looking to rebound after losing late to Ronaldo and crew. They will certainly need to gain at least a point in this game to keep their hopes alive of advancing into the next round, as the winner of this one puts themselves into a great spot in the next round. For the result of this one, I’m going with South Korea.

South Korea (+155)

South Korea played a close and tight match against Uruguay. Both of them had opportunities to win the game, but in the end, they were happy to earn a point each. The South Koreans seemed very organized defensively, and Son and his teammates created a few opportunities to score. The injury of Son has affected his ability to control the game, which means other players need to step up. I have no question at all they will keep defending well, but will they be able to score enough goals to advance to the next round? I am not sure about it.

Ghana was a complete underdog in the match against Portugal, but on the field, they were outstanding and were more than able to hold their own, and I am sure they are not happy with the result. I am not sure if Portugal looked Ghana over and started the match too relaxed or if the national team of Ghana is this good. According to the bookmakers, South Korea is the slight favorite. I disagree. I can’t overlook the fact their best player is not 100% healthy, and Ghana is looking good.

Ghana (+195)

South Korea survived the first game undefeated against Uruguay who is seen as one of the favorites to advance from Group H. The Koreans had no shots on target in that game and had 100 passes less than their opponent but their defense was very precise and managed to hold off the Uruguayans. Knowing that they will face Portugal in the last round, playing the same way against Ghana doesn’t make much sense.

Ghana lost in the opener 3-2 to Portugal, but they will go with a lot of confidence in this game. They are the stronger team than South Korea despite the Asians being a slight favorite given the odds. Ghana can outrun their next opponent and has multiple players who can score. Both teams played low-scoring games coming into the World Cup but the defensive recipe will bring no good to any of them. Therefore, an early goal will open up this matchup and many will follow. Given that, our recommendation is placing a bet on over 2.5 goals in a very high quote and if you really want to predict the winner, then Ghana is our choice.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Over Goals – 2.5 (+135)

Brazil vs Switzerland – 11AM ET

Brazil and Switzerland will go toe-to-toe in a clash which will likely determine who finishes at the top of Group G. Brazil won their opening game against Serbia, 2-0, and Switzerland also won their clash, 1-0, against Cameroon.

Tony Battalio

Brazil opened up their 2022 World Cup campaign with a win in their first Group Stage matchup. Now they will be looking to pick up their second victory in this second game and put themselves through to the next round with one more Group Stage match left to go. Brazil is one of the few heavy favorites to win this tournament and it’s easy to see why with how they performed the other day.

Switzerland also grabbed a win in their Group Stage opener and now they will be looking to grab another win and officially put themselves through to the knockout stages. They are certainly a country on the rise in the game of soccer. But like most other teams, they still have a long way to go before they show that they are a solid contender every four years.

Brazil (-217)

Brazil started slow and sloppily against Serbia. However, they grew in the game and secured a routine win. Losing their leader, captain, and best player, Neymar to an ankle injury is a devastating blow for the squad. Even though Brazil is blessed with lots of attacking talent, no one can replace the leadership and creating qualities Neymar brings, so they will have to switch up their play style. The reports say he will be out until the end of the Group Stage, so they will have to find a way to fill his shoes. Their defense, which was supposed to be their weak point in the team, looked impenetrable, and if they continue to play like that, I don’t foresee Brazil having any problems getting past this round of the competition.

Switzerland got outplayed for most of the game against Cameroon, but they still managed to come out victorious. Switzerland is an experienced team who knows how to get positive results. Their captain, Xhaka, looked unplayable at times as he controlled the game for his side. We will see if one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, Casemiro can take him out of rhythm. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to Brazil’s many attacking weapons, as this game will be won or lost in the midfield. I still believe the overall talent will be too much for Switzerland, but this will be a hard battle. Brazil wins.

Brazil came into the World Cup as the top favorite to win the trophy and after their first game, the odds have dropped even more. Brazil defeated Serbia in the opener and showed that they are simply on another level. They are consistently dangerous and can create a scoring opportunity in seconds. Neymar has a swollen ankle and is questionable for the game against Switzerland but even without him, Brazil is the favorite to win against anyone including Switzerland.

Switzerland is also coming off a win in the opener against Cameroon and will try to hold off the Brazilians and win a point. They managed to do so in the last World Cup in Russia and hope to survive undefeated again. Brazil is not under pressure at all but is packed with talent and will book their ticket for the next round with an easy win over Switzerland.

Portugal vs Uruguay – 2PM ET

The final game of the day will see powerhouse Portugal up against Uruguay. Portugal endured a little bit of a scare in their opening game, but still came away with the three points after narrowly beating Ghana, 3-2. Uruguay is yet to score a goal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and will be looking for a better result after a 0-0 draw with South Korea in their opening clash.

Tony Battalio

This is going to be a thriller between two of the top teams in the world as Portugal plays Uruguay in the second of three Group Stage matches here in Qatar. Both of these teams come into this game with different mindsets on Monday afternoon. Portugal will be looking to grab the win and secure their spot in the knockout stages.

While Uruguay will be looking to grab at least a point to stay alive in this massive group. When the final whistle blows I think Uruguay and company will grab the win away against Portugal and in turn I expect them to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the Round of 16 as another loss would likely put them out of the running.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Uruguay (+290)

Portugal played a mediocre match against Ghana. All of their attacking players once again proved their talent and easily cut through Ghana, but they can’t allow so many sloppy defensive mistakes if they want to go far in this tournament. However, with a victory against Uruguay, Portugal can secure their place in the next stage of the tournament, so this will be an extremely important match for them. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in five World Cups in his career and will be looking to add to his impressive goal-scoring record. Ronaldo is 37 years old and might be past his prime, but his opponent for the day, Uruguay’s Diego Godin, isn’t so far behind in age.

In the match against South Korea, Uruguay looked like an old and slow team. Darwin Nunez was the only player who looked like a threat to score a goal, even though he was playing out of position as a left winger. I predict they took notice of their limitations and will be looking to defend at a low block and try not to concede a goal. Nunez will be the main threat in counterattacks, but he’s still a raw, unpolished prospect, and I am not sure if he can take on mighty Portugal on his own. I don’t expect a lot of goals in this match, but Portugal will find a way through and win it.

Portugal (+100)

This will be a rematch of the Quarter Final game of the 2018 World Cup in Russia where Uruguay defeated Portugal despite Cristiano Ronaldo being on top of his form. Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez are still in Uruguay’s lineup and they lack no experience in games like this. Uruguay won only a point in the game against South Korea and now will have to catch up in the upcoming games which will not be easy at all.

Portugal played very well against Ghana despite allowing two goals. The most important thing for manager Fernando Santos is that the team functions well and the issues caused by Cristiano Ronaldo’s statements are in the past. Portugal will have the ability to control the pace in this game and would be satisfied even with a draw. However, both Uruguay and Portugal are not teams whose style is to defend. Given the circumstances, this will be an upfront battle between two potent squads, which will result in goals on both ends.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Both Teams Score (+100)
