Pittsburgh Penguins @ Montreal Canadiens – 7PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been a slow start of the season for Pittsburgh and they will look to get things going in the right direction with a victory over Montreal here in this game on Wednesday night. Pittsburgh has been a legitimate contender over the last decade plus, but their run is starting to come to an end, and they are seeing the fruits of that throughout the early part of this regular season. They come into this game three games below .500 through their first 27 games of the regular season and they will look for their 13th victory of the season here on Wednesday night north of the border in Canada. They recently broke a lengthy  losing streak in their previous game after picking up a victory over the Arizona Coyotes. Now they will look for a second consecutive victory in this game on Wednesday night in Montreal.

It has been a rough start to the season for the Montréal Canadiens as well and they will look for a huge momentum boost with a victory here at home on Wednesday night. They come into this game four games below .500 through their first 28 games of the regular season and they will look for their 13th victory of the year here in this game against Pittsburgh on Wednesday night at home. They come into this game as losers of two out of their last three after losing their previous game to the Buffalo Sabres and they will look to get right back into the column with a quality performance here in this game on Wednesday night against Pittsburgh. However, I don’t see that happening as I look for the Pittsburgh Penguins to come into their building and pick up the victory in this game on Wednesday night in comfortable fashion against the Montréal Canadiens.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Pittsburgh Penguins (-150)

Boston Bruins @ New Jersey Devils – 7:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Boston Bruins are off to a fantastic start of the year, and they will look to keep the momentum rolling in this game on the road in New Jersey on Wednesday night. Boston has been one of the best teams in the league over the last several seasons, despite having yet to win a Stanley cup title and they are hoping that this year is the year they finally reach that goal. As long as they remain healthy and consistent throughout the regular season once again, they will likely be the favorites heading into the playoffs for the second season in a row. It will look to keep the momentum rolling throughout this game against New Jersey as they look to pick up yet another victory and continue their stay at the top of the league throughout the early part of the regular season. Boston comes into this game with 18 victories to their first 28 games of the season and they will look for their 19th victory of the year here on Wednesday night.

The New Jersey Devils were having a quality start of the year before Jack Hughes went down with an injury. They are still looking to bounce back even after his return, and they will look to grab a huge momentum boosting victory here on Wednesday night at home against the Boston Bruins. New Jersey comes into this game, hovering right above 500 through their first 26 games of the season and they will look for their 15th victory of the year here on Wednesday night against one of the best teams in the league. If they want to find any type of long-term success this season they need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up nearly four goals per game. New Jersey had a three game winning streak snapped in their previous game when they were blown out by the Edmonton Oilers, and unfortunately for the Devils, I don’t see it getting much better for them in this one. As I look for the Boston Bruins to pick up the victory in this game on Wednesday night on the road in New Jersey.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Boston Bruins (+100)

Anaheim Ducks @ New York Islanders – 7:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Anaheim Ducks come into this game looking to grab a solid victory across the country against the New York Islanders. Anaheim is off to a less than respectable start to the regular season, compared to how they started the last few years and they will look to get the momentum going throughout this game on Wednesday. They come into this game seven games below the .500 mark through their first 27 games of the season and they will desperately look for a victory here on Wednesday night against the New York Islanders. They are in desperate need of a momentum boost here in this one and they will need to pick up a victory to get things going in the right direction throughout the back half of December if they want to remain competitive heading into the new year. They have played rough on both ends of the ice as they are only averaging around two goals per game and giving up nearly four goals per game this season. That is certainly not sustainable for any type of long-term success this season.

The New York Islanders are having an average start to the year and they are looking to keep the momentum rolling coming into this game against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night. They come to this game one game below the .500 mark through their first 27 games of the regular season and they will look to get back to .500 with their 14th victory of the year here on Wednesday. They have plenty of momentum coming into this game as they have picked up three consecutive victories, and four out of their last five have ended up as wins as well. If New York wants to maintain this current success they are having they need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up over three goals per game and that is not something that is sustainable for any type of success this season. Regardless of that I do expect them to pick up the victory in this game on Wednesday night at home against Anaheim.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

NY Islanders -1.5 (+120)

Buffalo Sabres @ Colorado Avalanche – 10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Buffalo Sabres come into this game looking for an upset victory of the Colorado Avalanche here on Wednesday night on the road in Denver. Buffalo comes into this game five games below .500 through their first 29 games of the regular season and they will look to get things going in the right direction with a quality victory here on Wednesday night against Colorado. They currently sit in seventh place of the Atlantic division, and they will look to make their way back up the standings for the string of quality performances throughout the rest of December. If Buffalo wants to find any type of long-term success this season they need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice as they are giving up nearly 4 goals per game, and that is not sustainable for any type of success. They do have a little bit of moment. I’m coming into this game after picking up a blowout victory over Arizona and their previous game on the road and they will look for a second consecutive victory here on Wednesday.

Colorado is off to a fantastic start to the regular season and they will look to keep the momentum rolling throughout this game on Wednesday night at home against the Buffalo Sabres. Colorado comes into this game with 17 victories through their first 28 games of the regular season and they will look to grab their 18th victory of the year here and this one on Wednesday night at home against Buffalo. Colorado could end up facing a similar issue, as they are also giving up three goals per game on the defensive end of the ice, but they are scoring plenty more as they average nearly 4 goals per game. They will still need to clean up their play on the defensive end of the ice if they want to remain consistent throughout the regular season and get one of the top seeds in the Western Conference heading into the playoffs. Regardless of how many goals they allow per game I still expect them to outscore Buffalo in this game and pick up a comfortable victory at home over the Sabres on Wednesday night.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+115)

Winnipeg Jets @ Los Angeles Kings – 10:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

Winnipeg is off to a fantastic start to the regular season and they will look to keep the momentum rolling throughout the early part of the year with another victory here on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Winnipeg comes into this game with 16 victories through their first 27 games of the regular season and they will look for their 17th victory of the year here on Wednesday night on the road south of the border in LA. They currently find themselves in third place of the Central division behind Vegas and Colorado and they will be looking to gain ground on the last two Stanley Cup champions with another quality performance here in this game on Wednesday night against Los Angeles. They recently had a lengthy win streak broken in their last game with their loss to San Jose and they will look to bounce back and get right back into the win column here on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Kings are having a decent start to the regular season, and they will look to keep the momentum rolling with a victory over Winnipeg here in this game on Wednesday night at home. They come into this game with 16 victories through their first 25 games of the regular season and they will look to maintain that momentum with another quality performance here in this one. They’ve been a very tough team to beat at home this season as they tend to be most years as they have been one of the most competitive teams in the conference over the last several years. They will be hoping that this year is finally the season that they break through the glass ceiling and make a Stanley Cup finals appearance, and potentially even win a Stanley Cup title as well. They will certainly be happy to be back on their whole ice after losing the last two games of their road trip to the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers. However, I don’t look for things to get much better for them in this one as I look for Winnipeg to pull off the upset win on the road in Los Angeles.

SportsTips’ NHL Pick:

Winnipeg Jets (+150)
