What will today’s games bring? Which teams will have the ability to get the all important win on the board, and who will crack under the pressure? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain, we are in for some great games! So sit back, relax and if you like to have a bet, then you have certainly come to the right place.

Look below to find our free NHL picks, as we preview the five games on today’s schedule.

Vegas Golden Knights @ Detroit Red Wings – 6.00PM ET

The Vegas Golden Knights look to push their winning streak out to three when they take on the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday night. The Golden Knights have a season record of 6-5-0, and in their previous game, they won against the Canadiens, 5-2. The Red Wings will be looking to get their season moving in the right direction, after currently standing at 5-5-2, and in their previous game, they won against the Sabres, 4-3, in overtime.

Denis Kirilov

The Vegas Golden Knights travel to Detroit in an attempt to continue their good streak. They have won 5 out of their last 6 games which boosted them to 9th place in the Western Conference with a total of 12 points. The team from Las Vegas had an awful start to the season, as they have been struggling in front of the opponent’s goal. In their most recent matches, they started to be more patient with their build-ups which resulted in less goals in their net and more goals on the other end. Alex Pietrangelo and Chandler Stephenson found a way to get back to scoring and this, without a doubt, had a positive effect on the whole team.

The Detroit Red Wings will be struggling on the bottom of the table this season, but that has been anticipated from their fans. With the victory over the Buffalo Sabres, they managed to put an end to their 4-game losing streak which spelled great danger. However, with this win they can once again take a breath, but with the hungry Vegas Golden Knights on the horizon, I doubt that this breath will be deep enough. Keeping in mind both teams’ recent performance in the NHL, I am going to risk a bit more and go for the handicap win for the Golden Knights.

Denis’ NHL Pick: Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+172)

Tony Battalio

Both the Vegas Golden Knights and Detroit Red Wings are coming off games last night and they both come from wins in those games as well. Las Vegas beat the Montreal Canadians on the road, in a game that they were down 0-2 after the first period. Vegas would go on to win that game 5-2 after scoring five unanswered goals in the second and third periods. This will be the finale of a four game road trip for Vegas where they have gone 2-1-0 and have won six of their last seven games. Las Vegas is currently 6-5-0 on the year.

As for the Detroit Red Wings, they come into this one following an Overtime victory over the surprising Buffalo Sabres. The game against Buffalo was the end of a four game road trip where the Red Wings struggled to a 1-3-0 record on the trip. They are currently 5-5-2 on the year through 12 games played. This game against the Vegas Golden Knights is the start of a tough four game homestand against teams like Edmonton, Columbus and Washington, so every point they can gather will be huge for them. As for the result of this one, I am taking the Vegas Golden Knights to win by the spread of 1.5. I believe Vegas is just playing better hockey at the moment and it will be reflected on the scoreboard and in the play on the ice on Sunday.

Tony’s NHL Pick: Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+172)

Michael Lantz

Despite Max Paciorettty and Mark Stone being out with injuries, and newly acquired Jack Eichel nowhere near ready to make his debut, the Vegas Golden Knights are overcoming plenty of adversity. In a Stanley Cup rematch against the Montreal Canadians on Saturday night, the Vegas Golden Knights once again had no problems with the Habs, defeating them 5-2.

Now, Vegas head to the “Motor City”, where they face off against a young, exhilarating offense in the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings are coming off a big win against the Buffalo Sabres in which Tyler Bertuzzi had 2 goals and 2 assists and Lucas Raymond added 3 assists as well. They look to continue to put up big numbers against a streaky Golden Knights team that isn’t even at full-strength. I think they’ll make it a game, as I look to the Red Wings to cover.

Michael’s NHL Pick: Detroit Red Wings +1.5 (-215)

Nashville Predators @ Chicago Blackhawks – 7.00PM ET

The Nashville Predators are in the middle of a mammoth road trip when they take on the Chicago Blackhawks. The Predators have a season record of 6-5-0 and will be looking to get the win against one of the worst teams in the NHL this season. The Blackhawks have only managed one win so far this season, with their season record currently standing at 1-9-2.

Denis Kirilov

The Chicago Blackhawks seemed to have found a way out of the miserable situation they have been in since the beginning of the season with some well-executed games recently. However, the Winnipeg Jets thought otherwise and defeated them, 1-5, through building a lead of 0-4 after two periods. The victory over the Ottawa Senators was crucial for the morale and the confidence of the team, but they will need to find another one soon, if they want to keep their chances for a good performance this year. Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat are capable of performing miracles for Chicago, but the other players will need to step up their game and make their task up-front a lot easier.

The Nashville Predators are solid in their campaign so far as they hold a record of 6-5-0 and take the 8th place in the Western Conference. They have defeated some of the best teams in the NHL recently which further boosted their confidence and energy levels. Minnesota, San Jose, the New York Islanders, and Calgary are amongst their victims.

However, most of these games were close ones and they required a full stretch until the end which might have a negative impact on the Predators, as they will surely start to feel exhausted at some point. In combination with the desperate levels that the whole Blackhawks’ squad has reached in order to get their win, I think that it’s fair to say that the hosts can be slight favorites in this game and I am choosing them.

Denis’ NHL Pick: Chicago Blackhawks (-108)

Tony Battalio

This will be the fourth game of a huge six game road trip for the Nashville Predators. So far on the trip they have made three stops north of the border and come back with a 2-1-0 record. With wins over Calgary in overtime and a win over Vancouver, the sole loss came to the Edmonton Oilers. They are currently 6-5 on the season through 11 games and 5-1 in their last 6 contests.

As for the Chicago Blackhawks, they are still struggling even after picking up their first and only win the other night. Through 12 games on the year their record sits at 1-9-2 and a lot of the games have not been close at all. Their lone win was a 5-1 trashing of the Ottawa Senators back on November 1st with help from Patrick Kane’s hat trick.

As for the game, I think the Nashville Predators continue their long road trip on a high note. Chicago is no slouch when they bring their best effort into games but Nashville is playing great hockey at the moment. However, I do not think Nashville will cover the 1.5 goal spread so the moneyline is the safer bet in this one.

Tony’s NHL Pick: Nashville Predators (-111)

Michael Lantz

After a bumpy start, the Nashville Predators have won five of their last six to sit at 6-5-0 on the season. Roman Jodi continues to be outstanding all around in this team’s playoff pursuit. After a pretty successful Canadian road trip, the Predators head to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks.

After an embarrassing start to the season on and off the ice, the Blackhawks had a spark of hope in the last week. On Monday they got their first win of the year, and in the two games surrounding that one, they only lost by one goal. Unfortunately, on Friday night they fell back into their old ways, losing 1-5 to the Winnipeg Jets. Maybe the Blackhawks just need to get back to “The Windy City” to get things rolling again, but I still like the way Nashville has been playing, so I’ll take them on the road.

Michael’s NHL Pick: Nashville Predators (-111)

St. Louis Blues @ Anaheim Ducks – 8.00PM ET

The St. Louis Blues are another team that’s in the middle of a significant road trip, and on Sunday they will be playing against the Anaheim Ducks. The Blues are having a great season so far, with their season record standing at 7-1-1, and in their previous game they won against the Sharks, 5-3. The Ducks are struggling slightly to get their season going, with their record at 5-4-3, and in their previous game they won against the Coyotes, 3-1.

Denis Kirilov

The St. Louis Blues is one of the teams in top form at the start of the 2021/22 NHL season. They have lost just twice out of 9 games and they are looking to further improve on this. Only teams like the Panthers, the Hurricanes, the Flames, the Oilers, and the Blues can boast about having a double-digit goals difference in their favor. On the other hand, the Ducks have had periods with high fluctuation in their performance, as they got stuck in a 4-game losing streak just so that they can win 3 in a row ahead of this game. Anaheim is not expected to continue with their good performance for long, since they don’t really have the class of other teams.

The Ducks will also be weakened for the upcoming fixture due to the absence of the Swedes; Rickard Rakell and Jakob Silfverberg. Ryan Kesler and Max Jones will miss the game as well. The missing players for the Blues are the same as the last couple of games as Kyle Clifford, Ryan O’Reilly, and Oskar Sundqvist will be sidelined. However, I think that the Ducks will feel a lot more the absence of their players and this will result in an easy win for the Blues. I would recommend picking St. Louis’ spread, but since it’s an away game – I’d rather play it safe.

Denis’ NHL Pick: St. Louis Blues (-172)

Tony Battalio

St. Louis is one of the hottest teams in the National Hockey League right now, despite a loss last week to the Los Angeles Kings. They are in the middle of a 4 game road trip where they are 1-0-1. In their last game, they beat the San Jose Sharks by a score of 5-3 in San Jose. They look like an early season Stanley Cup favorite along with a few other teams. St. Louis has been scoring a pile of goals early on and they sit at 7-1-1 through 9 games played.

As for the Anaheim Ducks, they have struggled out of the gate. However they are coming off of a win against Arizona and sit at 5-4-3 on the season, so it is not like it is a lost season yet. They will look to continue to gain momentum and build on their current 3 game winning streak in this one. This is the final game of a four game home stand for Anaheim so they will have an extra advantage in this game. As for the result, despite the Anaheim Ducks recent string of play and success, I think St. Louis is just too talented of a team to not win this game. The safe bet is the St. Louis Blues moneyline as I believe the Ducks will find a way to keep this one close.

Tony’s NHL Pick: St. Louis Blues (-172)

Michael Lantz

After a rough shootout loss against the Kings on Wednesday, the St. Louis Blues bounced back the following night, laying 5 goals into the San Jose Sharks net. The Blues now travel to Southern California where they will take on the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks are off to a pretty decent 5-4-3 record, and they won three straight games. The Ducks are happy to be sitting in the top ten in goals per game and if they can get a little more help defensively, they could be a true threat in the Pacific Division. Both teams are destined to be without a few players, and even with a solid Anaheim team playing at home, I think the Blues ultimately prevail as they continue to build on a 7-1-1 record with a strong win on the road.

Michael’s NHL Pick: St Louis Blues (-172)

New York Islanders @ Minnesota Wild – 8.00PM ET

The New York Islanders continue their mammoth road trip when they take on the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night. The Islanders have won two games in a row, with their season record standing at 5-2-2, and last time out they won against the Jets, 2-0. The Wild are also on a two game winning streak, with a decent 7-3-0 record, and in their previous game they won against the Penguins, 5-4, in a shootout.

Denis Kirilov

After a cautious 2-0 win against the Winnipeg Jets, the New York Islanders will go on to their 10th consecutive away game, this time in Minnesota. The Islanders are on a two game winning streak, and they are looking good recently, winning 4 out of their last 5 games. Additionally, they have conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game through their last 5 matches. The Minnesota Wild started off the season with 4 straight wins, but later on, they took their foot off the throttle. At the moment, they are 4th in the Western Conference with 14 points out of 10 matches.

Both teams know how to play defense and they might enter the game with such strategy. If this happens, then we will watch a match where both the Islanders and the Wild will try to outwit each other. I hope this will be the case, since I am recommending picking the “under” option for this tight and close matchup.

Denis’ NHL Pick: Under 5.5 (-128)

Tony Battalio

The New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild are both playing back to back games. Minnesota beat a really good Pittsburgh Penguins team in a shootout as their hot start to the season has been mixed as of late. Last night’s victory was Minnesota’s 2nd win in their last 4 games and improved their season record to 7-3-0 on the year following a 4-0-0 start to the 2021-22 campaign. This will be a quick 1 game homestand before hitting the road again to embark on a 3 game road trip. This is also a game that seems to be a must win after they’ve cooled off as the year has progressed.

As for the New York Islanders, last night’s victory against the Winnipeg Jets extends their winning streak to two games and gives them wins in four of their five contests. New York is in the middle of a 13 game road trip to open the year, so every point they gather at this point is a plus. New York is currently 5-2-2 following last night’s win, so despite the trouble of living out of hotels for the past few weeks, they have got themselves off to a good start to the season.

As for this game, I have the New York Islanders picking up another huge road victory. However I do not see them covering the 1.5 goal spread. With Minnesota’s recent form, it is a chance for New York to continue their strong string of road play on the season. So, in this one the New York Islanders moneyline is the safer bet.

Tony’s NHL Pick: New York Islanders (-105)

Michael Lantz

Before the regular season started, many outlets were picking the New York Islanders to win it all. At first there was some uncertainty as the Islanders went 1-2-1, with all their losses being against quality opponents and their sole win being against the lowly Chicago Blackhawks. Now, in the second week of November the Isles are 5-2-2, and have beat some quality opponents along the way.

Speaking of quality, New York’s next opponent is just that. The Minnesota Wild are 7-3-0 and can attribute a couple of those losses to the fact that they lost players to COVID—including one-time leading scorer Mats Zuccarello. Luckily, forwards Marcus Foligno and Kirill Kaprizov have picked up the pace in Zuccarello’s absence. The Islanders will have a tough opponent, but as they start to form into the contenders many believed they would be, I have faith they’ll finish the game with a win.

Michael’s NHL Pick: New York Islanders (-105)

Dallas Stars @ Vancouver Canucks – 10.00PM ET

The Dallas Stars end their road trip in Vancouver, when they take on the Canucks for the last game on Sunday night. The Stars have had a bit of a mixed bag so far this season, standing at 4-4-2, and last time out they got an overtime win against the Flames, 4-3. The Canucks are a team that is slightly struggling this season, with their record standing at 4-6-1, and in their previous game, they lost to the Predators, 2-3.

Denis Kirilov

The game between the Dallas Stars and the Vancouver Canucks will close out Sunday night in the NHL. Both teams are having troubles from the start of the season, as Dallas is looking for its first win in regular time, while Vancouver is 13th in the Western Conference with just 4 wins out of 11 games. This will be the Canucks’ sixth game in a row at home and they will hope to make up for a couple of the previous ones. All of the five matches they have played most recently were close games with an uncertain winner until the final seconds. They only managed to defeat the New York Rangers after overtime and suffered losses to some of the top-tier teams in the NHL, including the Edmonton Oilers and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Dallas Stars got a win in overtime in their previous match against the Calgary Flames. This victory stopped their 4-game losing streak in its tracks and they hope to build on this performance. Miro Heiskanen and Tyler Seguin have the potential to lead the Stars to the Playoffs, but they will first have to take care of important matches like this one. I personally think that the Canucks’ defense will sustain the Dallas Stars’ attack and everything will be decided in front of the goal of the guests. I hope that Connor Garland and J.T. Miller can come up huge in this game and bring the victory home for the Canucks.

Denis’ NHL Pick: Vancouver Canucks (-106)

Tony Battalio

Dallas may be starting to regain some momentum after their recent slide and they will look to continue building on that momentum as their road trip comes to an end north of the border in Vancouver. The Dallas Stars come into this game with a record of 4-4-2 through 10 games played. They have had a few up and down moments so far this season so a win here could help them escape their recent funk and get their season back on track.

As for the Vancouver Canucks, they have also had an up and down season to this point as well. They are currently 4-6-1 on the year through 11 games played. This will be the 6th game of a 7 game homestand where they are currently 1-4-0 over those previous five games. Much like Dallas, they could really use a win in an attempt to turn their season around. As for the result, I do like the Vancouver Canucks in this game, being at home gives them an extra advantage over the Stars. However I would go with the moneyline for the extra winning value. This could easily be a blowout or a close win for Vancouver depending how the flow of the game goes.

Tony’s NHL Pick: Vancouver Canucks (-106)

Michael Lantz

The Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks feel like two teams that are so close to breaking out. In Dallas’ case, that may have just happened—they beat a very good Calgary Flames team 4-3, in Calgary on Thursday night to advance to 4-4-2 on the year.

Meanwhile, Vancouver is particularly frustrating—they’ve had their last five contests decided by one goal, going 1-4 along the way and at 4-6-1 on the year. Canucks players and fans have to be thinking “what if?” The team‘s defense has been pretty admirable, and so far J.T. Miller and Conor Garland have been dependable, but this team needs guys like Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson to start picking it up if they want to stay alive in the Pacific Division race. With that being said, I’m still not totally sold on Dallas yet and Vancouver will have to get over this rough patch eventually. I’ll pick them to do that Sunday, with a win at home.

Michael’s NHL Pick: Vancouver Canucks (-106)
