Only one game on Monday night’s slate, when we see the Calgary Flames take on the Chicago Blackhawks. The Flames are desperate for a win, after losing four games in a row, which drops their season record to 15-7-6. The Blackhawks have been a little inconsistent so far in December, not being able to string two wins (or two losses) consecutively, and their season record currently stands at 10-15-2.

The Chicago Blackhawks host the Calgary Flames in the only game on Monday in the NHL. The Flames will be looking to put an end to their 4-game losing streak as they were recently defeated by the likes of Vegas, San Jose, Carolina, and Boston. The team has been playing on a very high level throughout the beginning of the campaign, leading the Conference for some time. Although the Flames are almost 100% healthy, the team has been struggling lately due to their inability to seize their goal opportunities. However, the Flames are still in top 3 of the Western Conference with 36 points, 3 points behind the leader, Minnesota Wild.

The Blackhawks managed to escape the void with some decent performance in November. They are still 14th in the West, but are getting closer and closer to the top 10. They have 22 points from 27 games which reflects their terrible performance in the opening 10 matches for the season. The team is struggling in the attacking position as they have only once managed to score 5 goals. The Blackhawks will surely do their best to put in a good fight against a thirsty Calgary Flames team. In my opinion, based on their last game against the Maple Leafs, I think that Chicago will have their chances in the upcoming fixture. Hence, I am willing to trust them against an inconsistent Calgary.

In the only game of the evening the Calgary Flames hit the road and cross the border to play the surging Chicago Blackhawks. Calgary is coming into this game with a record of 15-7-6 on the year. They will be looking to break a four game losing streak that has derailed a lot of their momentum as the year is starting to come to a close. Calgary is currently still in second place in the Pacific Division despite the recent slump they are in.
The Chicago Blackhawks had a rough start to the season but have since turned it around slightly. They come into this one with a record of 10-15-2 and have been up and down the entire month of December. However it is still an impressive feat to revive their season the way they have. As for the result of this game, I have the Blackhawks picking up the victory at home as well, further advancing the momentum they are riding to get back to the .500 mark this year.

After spending November looking like one of the NHL’s most dominant teams, the Calgary Flames have fallen on hard times, as they’ve lost four straight games, and are now second in the Pacific Division. They’ll look to get back on track against a Chicago Blackhawks team that’s starting to heat up after a tough start.

While the Blackhawks are still seventh in the Central Division, they aren’t the easy win they were earlier in the season. New acquisition Seth Jones leads the team in points and veteran forward Patrick Kane is right behind him, having another all-star worthy season. They’ll face a Calgary team that beat them 5-2 on November 23rd, and is looking to leave behind a current skid. Chicago hasn’t exactly been a lock at home, their 5-6-1 record isn’t convincing anyone and the Flames are hungry to get back to the top of the Pacific Division. I’ll pick them to get back on track.
