Winnipeg Jets @ Montreal Canadiens – 7pm ET

The only game on the slate for this Monday is an all Canadian matchup between two of the teams in Canada who have struggled the most this season. As the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens will face off on this one. As they both come into this game with losing records.

Marko Nadin

The Montreal Canadiens have a season to forget as they are at  rock bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 20-41-11 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Montreal allows 3.8 goals per game which ranks them second-worst in the league. Montreal has won 5 of the last 6 games against Winnipeg. They have lost 22 of the last 31 games played after one day rest and 35 of the last 51 games against Western Conference opponents.

The Winnipeg Jets are 11th in the Western Conference with a 34-28-11 record. After losing four straight games, they defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in their last one. Winnipeg scores and allows 3.1 goals per game which ranked them 16th offensively and 19th defensively. They have won the last 4 games as road favorites, 8 of the last 11 games against opponents with a losing record and 5 of the last 7 games when their opponent is coming of a game in which they scored no more than 2 goals.

Marko’s NHL Pick: Winnipeg Jets (-150)

Tony Battalio

The Winnipeg Jets have had a bit of a rough year coming into this one. As they come into this game with a record of 34-28-11 through their first 73 games of the season. They are currently in sixth place in the Central division at the moment. Despite them having a losing record they still have an outside shot to make the Stanley Cup playoffs at the moment. As they are less than ten points back of the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. Their current performances and losing form has pretty much squashed any chance they had of making a late season playoff run.

The Montreal Canadiens are another team that has had an incredibly rough year as well. As they come into this game with a record of 20-41-11 through their first 72 games of the season. They are already eliminated from the playoffs this season and are sitting towards dead last in the standings in both their division and the Eastern Conference. As for the result of this game I have the Winnipeg Jets getting their second win in two days after they beat the Ottawa Senators on Sunday evening.

Tony’s NHL Pick: Winnipeg Jets (-150)

Jeffery Thomas

The Montreal Canadiens come into Monday’s home game against the Winnipeg Jets losers of 11 of their last 16 as they round out the final stretch of a disappointing year. Their last game out was a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday which moved their record to 20-41-11, which has them comfortably at last place in the Atlantic Division and with the second-least amount of points in the NHL (51). The Canadiens will host the Winnipeg Jets on Monday after the Jets got a 4-3 win in Ottawa on Sunday.

The Jets were able to snap a four-game losing streak with their win over the Senators but it still wasn’t convincing. They haven’t had a win by more than a goal in their last nine games and I’m not expecting that to change on Monday against this Canadiens team that just gave the Leafs a battle. Give me Montreal to keep this one close and cover the spread here.

Jeffery’s NHL Pick: Montreal Canadiens (+125)
