Boston defeated Philadelphia on Sunday, 7-3. That snapped a two-game losing streak. The Bruins are 6-2-0 in February and are 11-3-2 overall with a +15 goal differential, best in the division.

David Pastrnak had a hat trick in the victory, tying him for the team lead in goals with nine. Tuukka Rask stopped 16 of 19 shots in the win. In 10 starts, Rask has a 2.56 GAA and a .901 save percentage.


New York defeated Buffalo, 3-2. That snapped a two-game losing streak for the Islanders. New York is 6-2-1 this month and they are 9-6-3 overall. The Islanders are 5-0-1 at home.

Semyon Varlamov stopped 34 of 36 shots. He has started 14 games and has an impressive 2.06 GAA and a .927 save percentage. Anders Lee scored his team-leading eighth goal in the victory.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Washington Capitals – 7:00 PM ET

Pittsburgh defeated Washington in overtime on Tuesday, 3-2. That is the third straight victory for Pittsburgh and they are 5-1 in their last six games. The Penguins are now 10-6-1, third in the East. Tristan Jarry continues to dazzle of late, stopping 20 of 22 shots.

Jarry has allowed five total goals in his last three starts and now has a 3.18 GAA and a .893 save percentage in 12 starts. Jake Guentzel had a goal and an assist in the victory, giving him 15 points, tied for the team lead.


Vitek Vanacek stopped 34 of 37 shots in the loss to Pittsburgh. However, it will be Ilya Samsonov getting the start. In two games Samsonov has a 3.36 GAA and a .868 save percentage.

Alex Ovechkin is second on the team with 15 points, but has just two over the last five games. The Capitals are 9-5-4. They are 6-3-2 at home.

The Hurricanes are now 12-4-1, second in the Central Division. They have a +17 goal differential, also second in the division. James Reimer allowed three goals on 31 shots in the loss.


He has started nine games with a 3.08 GAA and a .896 save percentage. Jesper Fast scored both goals for Carolina, his first two of the season.

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 34 of 36 shots for the win. Vasilevskiy has started 14 games with a 2.01 GAA and a .931 save percentage. Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman each had a goal and an assist in the win.

They are tied with Brayden Point for the team lead in points with 17. Tampa Bay is 11-4-1 overall and are 6-1-0 at home. They have a +20 goal differential, best in the NHL.

Dallas Stars @ Florida Panthers  – 7:00 PM ET

Dallas lost to Florida on Monday, 3-1. These teams play each other again on Wednesday night, but this preview was written prior to the conclusion of that contest.

Anton Khudobin played outstanding in the loss, stopping 49 of 51 shots. He now has a 2.66 GAA and a .915 save percentage in seven starts. That dropped the Stars to 5-4-4. Dallas has struggled on the road this season at 1-3-1. Joe Pavelski leads the team in points with 17.


Florida is now 12-3-2, tops in the Central Division. They have a +11 goal differential and are 6-2-1 at home. Chris Driedger stopped 24 of 25 shots in the victory.

He will likely be in net on Thursday. Dreidger has started nine games and has a 2.20 GAA and a .929 save percentage. Jonathan Huberdeau had an assist in the victory, giving him a team-leading 23 points.

He will likely be in net on Thursday and has a 2.36 GAA and a .909 save percentage in four starts. Matthew Tkachuk and Sean Monahan each had a goal and an assist in the victory. Monahan now has 14 points, third on the team, with Tkachuk right behind at 13.


Ottawa defeated Montréal in a shootout on Tuesday, 5-4. That was their second straight victory over the Canadiens, moving the team to 6-14-1. They are 4-6-0 over their last 10 games.

Matt Murray will be in net for Ottawa. He has started 14 games with a 3.66 GAA and a .883 save percentage. Brady Tkachuk had two goals in the victory over Montréal, giving him a team-leading eight goals and 15 points.

Nashville Predators @ Detroit Red Wings – 7:30 PM ET

Nashville defeated Detroit on Tuesday, 2-0. Pekka Rinne was outstanding, stopping all 24 shots he faced. It will be Juuse Saros in net on Thursday. Saros has a 3.47 GAA and a .882 save percentage in 10 appearances.

The Predators are 8-10-0 with a -15 goal differential. Filip Forsberg had a goal and an assist in the victory over Detroit giving him a team-leading nine goals, eight assists, and 17 points.


Jonathan Bernier played very well in the loss to Nashville, stopping 31 of 33 shots. It will be Thomas Greiss between the pipes on Thursday.

Greiss has started 13 games with a 3.16 GAA and a .891 save percentage. The Red Wings are 5-13-3 with a -27 goal differential, second worst in the NHL. Detroit is last in the NHL in goals per game at 1.86.

Montréal Canadiens @ Winnipeg Jets – 8:00 PM ET

The suddenly struggling Canadiens lost in a shootout to Ottawa on Tuesday, 5-4. That was their third straight loss, dropping the team to 9-5-4. Despite the loss, the Canadiens have still been excellent on the road this season, going 6-0-4.

Carey Price will be in net on Thursday. Price has been beat up lately, allowing at least three goals in four of his last five starts. He still has a 2.95 GAA and a .893 save percentage. Tyler Toffoli leads the team in scoring (17), but has just three points in his last eight games.


Winnipeg defeated Vancouver in overtime on Sunday, 4-3. Mark Schiefele scored a goal and added two assists, now giving him a team-leading 26 points. He has a 10-game point streak.

The Jets are 11-6-1, second place in the North. They have a +12 goal differential. Connor Hellebuyck will be in net. He has been struggling of late as well, giving up at least three goals in each of his last three starts.

Edmonton Oilers @ Vancouver Canucks – 10:00 PM ET

Edmonton defeated Vancouver on Tuesday, 4-3. It was the Oilers fourth straight victory. Leon Draisaitl recorded three assists and Dominik Kuhan scored two goals to lead Edmonton. The Oilers are now 13-8-0 with a +11 goal differential.

Edmonton has been outstanding on the road at 7-3-0. Mikko Koskinen has started 14 games this season with a 3.26 GAA and a .901 save percentage. With the three assists, Draisaitl now has 33 points, second to Connor McDavid on the team.


Vancouver is now 8-13-2 following the loss. They have a -14 goal differential. Elias Pettersson scored a goal and added an assist to give him 18 points, fourth on the club.

Brock Boeser leads Vancouver with 22 points. Thatcher Demko allowed four goals on 29 shots in the last Edmonton. He has started 13 games with a 3.37 GAA and a .898 save percentage.
