The Charlotte Hornets (15-40, 8-23 Away) travel to face the Washington Wizards (24-29, 12-12 Home) on Wednesday in a matchup of teams on losing runs.
Charlotte was defeated by the Orlando Magic 119-113 at Spectrum Center on Sunday, their fourth straight loss. LaMelo Ball was a top performer in the losing effort with 33 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
The Hornets are 14th in the Eastern Conference. Washington lost their third in a row in blowout fashion on Monday at Capital One Arena, falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-91.
Kristaps Porzingis had 18 points and seven rebounds in the loss to lead the team. The Wizards are the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference. The teams are meeting for the final time this season.
Charlotte will be looking to split the season series after triumphing in only one of the three prior games, including a 117-116 victory at Spectrum Center in December 2022.
Bradley Beal topped all players in scoring with 33 points, seven assists, and six rebounds in the loss. Terry Rozier had 25 points and eight assists for the Hornets. The Hornets have been led this season by Rozier, who is averaging 21.8 points per game. Rozier also has dished 4.9 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Mason Plumlee is grabbing 9.7 rebounds. Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma have supplied much of the Wizards’ offense, averaging 22.4 and 21.3 points per game, respectively. Porzingis also has collected 8.6 rebounds per game.
Monte Morris has tallied 5.4 assists per game. The Wizards have found success in recent clashes between the teams at Capital One Arena, winning seven of the last 10. Charlotte is looking to reverse a five-game road losing streak this season.
