New Orleans emerged victorious on Friday at Spectrum Center, beating the Charlotte Hornets 124-112. Jonas Valanciunas had 30 points, 17 rebounds, and four assists, carrying the team. Utah and New Orleans split their matchups last season, winning two games apiece. The Pelicans came out on top in the last meeting 124-90 at Smoothie King Center on March 4.
Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 29 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Donovan Mitchell had 14 points in defeat. Lauri Markkanen and Clarkson, averaging 20.5 and 19.5 points per game, respectively, are leading the Jazz in scoring early this season. Meanwhile, Mike Conley is dishing 9.5 assists per game, fourth-most in the NBA, and Jarred Vanderbilt is grabbing 13.0 rebounds per game (5th).
Ingram (28.0 ppg) has supplied much of the Pels’ offense. Ingram also has tallied 6.0 assists per game. Valanciunas has posted 15.0 rebounds per game. The Jazz have had the advantage in the last 10 trips to Smoothie King Center, winning seven.
