The Minnesota Timberwolves (34-33, 20-15 Home), one of the NBA’s top shooting teams, welcome the Brooklyn Nets (37-29, 18-17 Away) on Friday. Brooklyn is playing the second of a back-to-back after losing to the Milwaukee Bucks 118-113 at Fiserv Forum yesterday.
Patty Mills was the standout player in the losing effort with 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and one steals. The Nets are sixth in the Eastern Conference. Minnesota dropped their third straight home game in blowout fashion on Tuesday at Target Center, falling to the Philadelphia 76ers 117-94.
Anthony Edwards had 32 points and seven rebounds in the loss, leading the team. The Timberwolves are the seventh seed in the Western Conference. The teams are meeting for the first time this season. Brooklyn and Minnesota split their matchups last season, taking one game apiece.
The Timberwolves triumphed in the last meeting 136-125 at Target Center in January 2022. Edwards led the Timberwolves with 25 points, while D’Angelo Russell contributed 23 points and 10 assists.
Kyrie Irving had 30 points and six rebounds in defeat. Nic Claxton and Cam Thomas, averaging 12.3 and 11.0 points per game, respectively, are leading the Nets in scoring this season.
Claxton also has grabbed 9.1 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Royce O’Neale is dishing 3.8 assists per game. Edwards has supplied much of the T’Wolves’ offense, averaging 24.7 points per game. Rudy Gobert is pulling down 11.5 rebounds per game, fourth-most in the NBA, and Russell is distributing 6.2 assists.
The Nets are shooting 49.3% from the field, ranking as one of the NBA’s most accurate field goal shooting teams (3rd). The Timberwolves have found success in the Nets’ last 10 trips to Target Center, winning seven.
