The Houston Rockets (13-47, 8-20 Home) will try to slow down the NBA’s top shooting team when they host the Denver Nuggets (43-19, 15-15 Away) on Tuesday.
Denver beat the Los Angeles Clippers 134-124 in overtime at Ball Arena on Sunday. Nikola Jokic led the way with a triple double, totaling 40 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Nuggets are the first seed in the Western Conference, five games ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies. Houston dropped their ninth in a row on Sunday at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, falling to the Portland Trail Blazers 131-114.
Jae’Sean Tate and Alperen Sengun recorded 17 points each to lead the team in scoring in the loss. With 15 points and 10 rebounds, Tari Eason also had a strong game. The Rockets are 15th in the Western Conference.
This marks the final meeting of the season between the teams. Denver will be looking for a season sweep against Houston after taking both of their previous games, the most recent of which was a 120-100 victory at Ball Arena in November 2022, their ninth straight head-to-head victory. Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 26 points. Kevin Porter Jr. had 23 points and six rebounds in the loss.
Jokic is averaging 24.8 points per game to lead the Nuggets in scoring this season. Jokic also is contributing 11.7 rebounds and 10.0 assists per game, placing him third and third in the NBA, respectively.
Jalen Green has been the primary provider of the Rockets’ offense, averaging 21.8 points per game. Sengun is averaging 8.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
