Washington Wizards @ Indiana Pacers – 7PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Washington Wizards are in a bit of a weird transitional era as they are caught somewhere between being a rebuilding franchise in a team that is potentially competing for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference every year. They are a team that could arguably go either way each and every season and it is unknown how they will perform this season, but they will be looking to get their season off to a fantastic start with a victory on the road against the Indiana Pacers here on Wednesday night. They are coming off of a losing record last season, where they only managed to pick up 35 wins, and they will be looking to improve upon that win total this season with a victory in the opening game of the season here on Wednesday night in Indiana.

The Indiana Pacers will be looking to pick up a quality victory against a fellow Eastern Conference team here on opening night at home on Wednesday evening. Indiana has shown signs of improvement over the last several seasons, and they have plenty of solid pieces on their roster that could help them build some type of playoff run this season. The health and efficiency of Tyrese Haliburton will be the main factor in the success of the Indiana Pacers this season, and if he is playing his best basketball, then this Indiana Pacers team could easily finish as a top eight team in the conference, and make the postseason. I expect them to get this season off to a solid start here on Wednesday night as I look for them to pick up the victory over the Washington Wizards at home to open up the year.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Indiana Pacers -7.5 (-110)

Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks – 7PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Boston Celtics had a pretty solid season last year, but they were unable to accomplish their ultimate goal of winning an NBA championship once again. They come into this season with their mind focused on that very same goal this season, and they certainly have a roster that is capable of delivering a championship performance for them each and every night. They will be looking to get this season started off on the right foot with a victory on the road in Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks here on Wednesday night, as it would be a statement of the season for the Boston Celtics if they can grab a victory here tonight. Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown will have to lead the way for Boston in this one if they want to get the job done against the Knicks.

The New York Knicks defied some expectations last season and it led to them knocking off the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opening round of the postseason, as the underdogs in only five games. They will be looking to improve upon that performance from last season with a quality victory in the opening game of this season here on Wednesday night at home against the Boston Celtics. It would certainly be a statement victory to open up the year for the New York Knicks if they can find a way to get the job done against one of the teams in the conference and a team that they will almost certainly be competing with for a division title throughout the season as well. For the New York Knicks I don’t see that happening in this one as I look for the Boston Celtics to grab the season opening victory here on Wednesday night.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Boston Celtics (-165)

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Brooklyn Nets – 7:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Cleveland Cavaliers put together a solid regular season last year, but they kind of flamed out in their first round playoff series against the New York Knicks. They will be looking to get off to a solid start this season as they look to improve upon last year’s finish and continue to show the league that they are a potential championship contender in the making with their solid young core. Guys like Darius Garland and Evan Mobley will have to take the next step and blossom into true NBA superstars, and Donovan Mitchell will have to continue playing as well as he has throughout the early part of his career if the Cavaliers want to find some success this season in an absolutely loaded Eastern Conference.

The Brooklyn Nets come into this season, only one year off of a roster transformation that would make almost anybody sick to their stomach. At one point last season, they had both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on their roster and coming into this season neither of them feature for the Brooklyn Nets. It is the second time in the last several seasons that Brooklyn has had to overhaul their roster without any real signs of success. It does not look like Brooklyn will have much success this season as they expected to be a low level team in the league that may be able to sneak into a playoff spot in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately for the Brooklyn Nets, I don’t look for this opening game of this season to go too well for them as I look for Cleveland to pick up the victory on the road here on Wednesday night.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Cleveland Cavs (-120)

Detroit Pistons @ Miami Heat – 7:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Detroit Pistons have been in a rebuilding era for the last several seasons, but they have plenty of young talent on this roster that could easily get the job done and lead them to a playoff spot in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference this season. The pressure will fall on their young stars like Jaden Ivy, and Cade Cunningham, as they will have to remain healthy and consistent throughout the regular season if Detroit wants to string together any type of success this year. For the last several seasons, they have finished in one of the worst teams in the league, but they have shown some progress in their rebuild, as they are showing plenty of strides in the draft, and they will be looking to carry them over into their play on the court this season.

The Miami Heat put together a solid season last year, but they came up short of their ultimate goal as they were unable to win an NBA championship. They are back this year, where they renewed focus and arguably after a few trades made in the off-season, they have put together a pretty solid roster that could shut down any team in the league. They have lost some key pieces over the offseason like Max Strus to the Cleveland Cavaliers, however, they still have Jimmy Butler and the same group that they had last season, which gives them an opportunity to run things back and make another deep playoff run this year. I look for them to start this season off on a positive note and pick up a victory here on Wednesday night.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Miami Heat -8.5 (-115)

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Chicago Bulls – 8PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be looking to open up this brand new season with a victory on the road in Chicago here on Wednesday night. Oklahoma City has a very young team that has blossomed into a potential backdoor playoff team in the Western Conference this season as long as they remain healthy and consistent throughout the year. They have young stars, like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey to lead the way for this team and if they put up some solid numbers this season, Oklahoma City could find themselves making the playoffs this year. They will be looking to get this season off to a solid start here on Wednesday night in the Windy City as they look to take down a solid Chicago Bulls team on the road.

The Chicago Bulls have a pretty solid roster, but they will have to overcome some issues on the injury front as they will likely be without Lonzo Ball for the majority of the season. Which means guys like DeMar DeRozan and Zach Lavine will have to continue stepping up for the Chicago team if they want to have success in a loaded Eastern Conference throughout the year. I expect this to be a close and competitive game to open up the season but in the end I look for the Chicago Bulls to pick up the victory at home over the Oklahoma City Thunder to grab a season opening victory in front of their home fans here on Wednesday night, as I look for DeMar DeRozan and Zach Lavine to lead the way for this team.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Chicago Bulls (-110)
