The Brooklyn Nets (30-19, 14-8 Home) will try to slow down one of the league’s top scoring teams when they welcome the Los Angeles Lakers (23-27, 10-15 Away) on Monday. Los Angeles was beaten by the Boston Celtics 125-121 in overtime at TD Garden on Saturday.
LeBron James had a standout performance in defeat with 41 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. The Lakers are the 13th seed in the Western Conference. Brooklyn were victorious on Saturday at Barclays Center, beating the New York Knicks 122-115. Kyrie Irving had 32 points, nine assists, and six rebounds, leading the team.
The Nets are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. The teams are meeting for the last time this season. Los Angeles will be aiming for a season sweep against Brooklyn after winning the only earlier game 116-103 at Crypto.com Arena in November 2022.
Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 37 points and 18 rebounds. Kevin Durant had 31 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in defeat. James is averaging 30.2 points per game, sixth-highest in the league, to lead the Lakers in scoring this season. James also has grabbed 8.5 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook is dishing 7.5 assists. Durant and Irving have supplied much of the Nets’ offense, averaging 29.7 and 26.6 points per game, respectively. Durant ranks eighth in the NBA. Nicolas Claxton is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game, and Ben Simmons is recording 6.1 assists.
The Lakers are one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NBA, ranking fifth with 117.1 points per game. The Lakers have had the advantage in recent games at Barclays Center, winning seven of the last 10.
Los Angeles is 4-6 in the last 10 games with an average margin of -1.8 (117.9-119.7). Brooklyn has also a 4-6 record over the last 10, allowing 114.9 points per game on average while scoring only 112.6 (-2.3 margin).
