The Boston Celtics (45-21, 25-9 Home), one of the NBA’s top scoring teams, welcome the Portland Trail Blazers (31-34, 14-19 Away) on Wednesday.
Portland topped the Detroit Pistons 110-104 at Little Caesars Arena on Monday. With 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists, Damian Lillard led the way.
The Trail Blazers are the 13th seed in the Western Conference. Boston dropped their third in a row on Monday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-114 in overtime.
Jaylen Brown had 32 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists in the losing effort, leading the team. The Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference, 1.5 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks.
The teams are meeting for the first time this season. Portland and Boston split their matchups last season, each team winning one game. The Trail Blazers won the last meeting 109-105 at TD Garden in January 2022.
Jusuf Nurkic led the Trail Blazers with 29 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists. Jayson Tatum had 27 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in the losing effort.
The Blazers have been led this season by Lillard, who is averaging 32.4 points per game, third-highest in the NBA. Lillard also has dished 7.2 assists per game. Meanwhile, Josh Hart is grabbing 8.2 rebounds.
Tatum (30.3 ppg) and Brown (26.6) have supplied much of the Celts’ offense. Tatum ranks sixth in the NBA in scoring, while Brown is 10th. Tatum also has collected 8.9 rebounds per game. Marcus Smart has recorded 6.7 assists per game.
