Corey Seager will be looking to extend his 16-game on-base streak as the Texas Rangers (47-31) host the Detroit Tigers (34-43) at Globe Life Field on Tuesday.
The Tigers took Monday’s series opener 7-2, their second head-to-head victory in four games this season. Mason Englert threw 2.1 innings out of the bullpen to get the win.
Jake Rogers was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs in the win. Andy Ibanez added a home run and three RBIs. Marcus Semien went 2 for 4 with a solo home run for the Rangers.
ON THE MOUND
Matt Manning (1-1, 4.63 ERA) is in line to start for Detroit. The right-hander allowed four runs over six innings in his last start, a 9-3 road defeat against the Blue Jays on April 11. He was charged with the loss, scattering six hits while striking out three and walking one.
For Texas, left-hander Martin Perez (7-3, 4.38 ERA) gets the ball. He has made one prior start against the Tigers this season, giving up six runs over 4.2 innings in a 10-6 road win on May 30.
He gave up seven hits and walked four while striking out three in the no-decision. In his last start on Wednesday, Perez got the win on the road against the White Sox.
He threw seven innings and gave up three runs (2 ER) on four hits, striking out two and walking two in the 6-3 triumph.
