The Royals are in the midst of a nine-game road trip. They are coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Brewers, dropping the finale 9-6 on Sunday at American Family Field. Bobby Witt Jr. was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double.

He had three RBIs. Salvador Perez added a home run and two runs. The Padres are playing the first of six games at home after returning from a rough six-game road trip (1-5).

They are coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Dodgers, dropping the finale 4-0 on Sunday at Dodger Stadium for their fifth straight loss. ON THE MOUND

Brad Keller (3-3, 4.31 ERA) is set to get the start for Kansas City. The righty allowed one run over five innings in his last start, a 9-1 road win over the White Sox on Wednesday. He earned the win, yielding three hits while striking out four and walking four.
