The Padres took Tuesday’s series opener 6-3. Starter Joe Musgrove went six innings for the win, giving up three runs on seven hits, and Josh Hader struck out the side in the ninth for his 16th save.

Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1 for 3 with a home run and two runs in the win. Josh Bell was 2 for 4 with a solo home run for the Guardians.

ON THE MOUND

Aaron Civale (2-1, 2.31 ERA) is slated to take the mound for Cleveland. The righty allowed two runs over 5.2 innings in his last start, a 10-3 home win over the Red Sox on Thursday.
