The Cincinnati Reds (42-38) are on the road to face the Baltimore Orioles (48-30) at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Wednesday with the three-game Interleague series knotted at 1-1.
The Reds evened up the series 1-1 after winning 3-1 on Tuesday. Starter Andrew Abbott went six innings for the win, giving up one run on two hits and striking out eight, and Alexis Diaz earned his 22nd save with a scoreless ninth.
Matt McLain was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double in the win over the Orioles. He drove in two runs. TJ Friedl added a home run and two runs.
ON THE MOUND
Luke Weaver (1-2, 6.86 ERA) is slated to get the start for Cincinnati. The right-hander allowed five runs over 3.1 innings in his last start, an 11-10 home win over the Braves on Friday. He scattered seven hits while striking out three and walking one in the no-decision.
RHP Kyle Gibson (8-5, 4.30 ERA) is on the mound for Baltimore. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Reds. Gibson made one start against the Reds in 2022, throwing six innings for the Phillies in an 11-4 road win on August 16.
He gave up six hits while striking out 11 in the win. In his last start on Friday, Gibson took the loss at home against the Mariners. He threw three innings and gave up five runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking three in the 13-1 defeat. The right-hander is tied for fourth in the AL in wins.
