Christian Yelich will be looking to extend his 16-game on-base streak as the Milwaukee Brewers (48-42) host the Cincinnati Reds (50-40) at American Family Field on Sunday with the three-game series tied at 1-1.
The Reds leveled the series 1-1 after winning 8-5 on Saturday, their second head-to-head victory in six games this season. Reliever Lucas Sims was credited with the win after throwing 1.1 scoreless innings, and Alexis Diaz earned his 26th save with a scoreless ninth.
Will Benson was 2 for 4 with a solo home run and a triple in the win. Joey Votto added a home run and a double. He drove in three runs. Willy Adames’ on-base streak reached 13 as he went 2 for 5 with two home runs and three RBIs for the Brewers. Brian Anderson added one run on two hits.
ON THE MOUND
Ben Lively (4-4, 4.11 ERA) is in line for the start for Cincinnati. The right-hander allowed two runs over four innings in his last start, an 8-6 home win over the Rockies on June 20. He yielded three hits while striking out four and walking four in the no-decision.
Lively has made one previous start against the Brewers this season, a 5-1 home loss on June 4. He surrendered five runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking three. For Milwaukee, left-hander Wade Miley (5-2, 3.36 ERA) will take the mound.
It’s his first appearance of the season against the Reds. Miley made two appearances against the Reds in 2022, including one start, striking out six and walking two over six innings (1-0, 3.00).
In his last start on Tuesday, Miley took a no-decision at home against the Cubs. He threw five innings and gave up four runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking two in the 7-6 defeat.
