A pair of hot hitters are set to face off when the Washington Nationals (23-32) match up against the Los Angeles Dodgers (34-22) at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, as Freddie Freeman and his 19-game hitting streak host Lane Thomas and his 15-game streak with the home team in position for a sweep of the three-game series.
The Dodgers lead the series 2-0 after winning 9-3 on Tuesday. Starter Tony Gonsolin went six innings for the win, giving up one run on three hits.
Freeman went 4 for 5 with a home run and two runs in the win. Jason Heyward added a home run and two RBIs, walking twice. Keibert Ruiz was 1 for 3 with a solo home run for the Nationals.
ON THE MOUND
Patrick Corbin (4-5, 4.88 ERA) is slated for the start for Washington. The LHP allowed six runs over 6.1 innings in his last start, a 12-10 road win over the Royals on Friday. He earned the win, giving up seven hits while striking out six and walking four.
Corbin is making his first appearance against the Dodgers this season. Corbin made one start against the Dodgers in 2022, a 7-1 road loss on July 27. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over 0.2 innings, walking one. Right-hander Noah Syndergaard (1-4, 6.27 ERA) gets the ball for Los Angeles.

In his last start on Friday, Syndergaard took the loss on the road against the Rays. He threw six innings and gave up six runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking one in the 9-3 defeat.
