Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 12:35PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers come into the finale of this series against Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon, looking to pick up their second consecutive victory of the series. They bounced back after their series opening loss on Monday afternoon to pick up a crucial victory on Tuesday and they will be looking to replicate that performance here on Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park. Every victory that Milwaukee can pick up here is a massive victory for them as they will be looking to extend their lead in the National League Central division over both Chicago and Cincinnati heading into the final month of the season.

Pittsburgh had a fantastic start to the season, but the train fell off of the tracks heading into the summer months, and they were never able to recover. Now they will be looking to play spoiler throughout the remainder of the season and it starts with trying to pick up a victory over Milwaukee here on Wednesday afternoon at home to win the series. The Pirates were unable to officially clinch the series on Tuesday night when they lost to the Brewers, but they have an opportunity to do so here in this one. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh I don’t see that happening as I look for the Milwaukee Brewers to pick up the victory here on Wednesday afternoon to take two out of three games from the Pirates.

Minnesota Twins @ Cleveland Guardians – 1:10PM ET

Minnesota picked up a second consecutive victory over Cleveland on Tuesday night and now they will be looking to sweep Cleveland here on Wednesday afternoon on the road. Not only will they be looking to officially finish off this series with a sweet but another victory over Cleveland here on Wednesday would give them the season tiebreaker as well as all but officially shut the door on the American League Central division title race. Minnesota has been up and down this season but they have come on strong over the last couple of weeks and they will be looking to finish the job with another victory here on Wednesday afternoon to wrap up this series with three comfortable victories over the Guardians. 

At this point in the season, it is all but officially over for Cleveland. They will likely be entering a new era following the season as well. After longtime manager Terry Francona recently announced he would be stepping down at the end of the year. Cleveland had the potential to be one of the best teams in all of baseball this season, however their bullpen failed them time and time again. Not only did the bullpen implode on them several times, but the lack of timely hitting has cost the multiple games this season as well. I expect that to be the case again here on Wednesday afternoon as I look for Minnesota to finish off the sweep of the Guardians to put the final nail in the coffin. 

San Francisco Giants @ Chicago Cubs – 2:20PM ET

It has been a solid season for the San Francisco Giants and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling in the finale of this series against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Despite the successful season that they are having they are not having a fun time playing baseball over the last week or so as they come into the finale of this series on a five game losing streak, and they will desperately be looking to get back on track here in this one. They will be looking to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Chicago Cubs as well as they look to regain a top three spot in the National League wildcard race by stringing some victories together coming down the final stretch of the season.

The Chicago Cubs had a slow start to the year, but they have been playing great baseball over the last month and a half. They will be looking to complete the three game sweep of the San Francisco Giants here on Wednesday afternoon at home and they look to keep themselves within striking distance of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central division. Chicago comes into this game after picking up the first two victories of this series and they will be looking to complete the three game sweep here on Wednesday afternoon to further extend their lead in the National League wildcard race as well. That is exactly what I expect as I have the Chicago Cubs picking up the victory here on Wednesday afternoon to wrap up the series.

Seattle Mariners @ Cincinnati Reds – 6:40PM ET

The Seattle Mariners will be looking to keep the momentum rolling in the finale of this three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night on the road in Cincinnati. Seattle comes into the finale of this series sitting in first place in the American League West division, and they will be looking to extend their lead with another victory here on Wednesday night. Despite having some success over the last few weeks, Seattle has been unable to pick up a victory throughout the first two games of this series, and they will be looking to do so here in the finale to avoid being swept by the Cincinnati Reds. They come into the finale of this series with a record of 77-60 through their first 137 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

It has been an up-and-down type of season for the Cincinnati Reds, and right now they are riding a wave of momentum, as they have picked up the first two victories in the first two games of this series against the first place Seattle Mariners. They will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here, and Wednesday’s finale as they look to complete the three game sweep of the Seattle Mariners and continue keeping themselves within striking distance of first place in the National League Central division, as they look to chase down the Milwaukee Brewers. Unfortunately for Cincinnati, I don’t see that happening here on Wednesday as I look for Seattle to grab their first victory of the series to avoid the three game sweep.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to bounce back after they lost to the Miami Marlins on Tuesday as they look to pick up a crucial victory in the second game of this series on Wednesday night on the road in Miami. The coast is basically clear when it comes to the National League West division for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they have all been officially clinched the division at this point in the year. Now they will be looking to overtake the best record in the National League from the Atlanta Braves coming into the final month of the season and they cannot afford to drop games to Miami if they want to do that in the coming weeks.

The Miami Marlins got a huge victory on Tuesday night in the opening game of the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers and they will be looking to replicate that performance here on Wednesday night to officially clinch the series as well. If they can manage to pick up a second consecutive victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers here on Wednesday night, it would get them rolling in the right direction as they look to get back into the National League wildcard race with about three weeks remaining in the regular season. Unfortunately for Miami, I don’t see that happening in this game as I have the Los Angeles Dodgers picking up the victory here on Wednesday night.
