Seattle Mariners @ Washington Nationals – 12:05PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and Washington Nationals will be playing the second game of their two game series in this one. Game number one was rained out and now this will be the first game of a day and night doubleheader.

The Seattle Mariners come into the first game of this doubleheader as one of the hottest teams in Major League Baseball. They are currently on a eight game winning streak and have managed to climb into second place of the American League West division. They now trail the Houston Astros by 12 games as they have won nine out of their last ten games on the season. They are also making a serious run at a wild card spot as they sit only a half a game behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the third wild card spot. 

The Washington Nationals come into game one of this double header having an absolutely miserable season. They are way below the .500 mark as they have a record of 30-58 through their first 88 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are buried at the bottom of the National League East as they sit 24 games back of first place and currently find themselves on a four game losing streak. They have also lost nine of their last ten games on the season.

The game on Tuesday between the Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners was rained out and now the teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday. The Mariners come into the opening game winners of 8 straight and now have a record of 45-42 on the season. That puts them tied with the Toronto Blue Jays for the final wild-card spot in the American League and holding that spot would put them into the postseason for the first time since 2001. 

The Nationals on the other hand are in last place in the NL East and have lost 10 of their last 11. Josiah Gray on the mound for Washington gives them their best chance but the Mariners are still the far better team and I love the value we are getting for them in this spot.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 30-58 record. They lost 10 of the last 11 games and are coming off a 0-3 series loss to the Atlanta Braves. The Nationals are 27th in the league scoring 3.97 runs per game and are 30th in the league allowing 5.62 runs per game. Washington will start Josiah Gray tonight who is 7-5 for the season with a 4.14 ERA. The Nationals have won 7 of the last 9 interleague home games against right-handed starters and have lost 36 of the last 52 games following a loss.

The Seattle Mariners are second in the AL West with a 45-42 record. They have won the last 8 games and are coming off a 4-0 series sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Mariners are 24th in the league scoring 4.13 runs per game and 4th in the league allowing 3.87 runs per game. Seattle will start Chris Flexen tonight who is 5-8 for the season with a 4.00 ERA. Seattle has won the last 4 games after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game and 5 of the last 6 games opening a double-header.

New York Mets @ Atlanta Braves – 12:20PM ET

The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game number one it was the New York Mets who got the win. In game number two it was the Braves who got the win to tie up the series heading into game three.

The New York Mets are in a hole in this series as their lead in the National League East is slowly disappearing. They now only hold a one and a half game lead over the Atlanta Braves at the moment as they come into this game with a record of 54-34 through their first 68 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Mets have been one of the best teams throughout the majority of the season but are starting to slump a little as we approach the all-star break. 

The Atlanta Braves are coming into this game with a record of 53-36 through their first 89 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are gearing up for a run to repeat as World Series champions this season as they are gaining a ton of ground on the New York Mets in the past few weeks. After winning game number two of this series they have an opportunity to take a three game series over the division leading New York Mets.

The defending World Series Champion Atlanta Braves put the New York Mets’ lead in the NL East down to 1.5 games with their 4-1 win at home on Tuesday. Matt Olsen hit a go-ahead two-run homerun in the 6th inning and then Adam Duvall delivered the dagger homer in the seventh to extend the Braves’ record to a league best 30-9 since June 1. Atlanta is also the best team in the National League when going against a left-handed starter, improving that record to 22-8. 

The two teams have split the first two games and now will have the decider on Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta. Charlie Morton of Atlanta had a very slow start to the year but has picked it up big time and has not recorded a loss since way back at the beginning of May. There has been a lot of no-decisions in there but he is keeping his guys in the game and with how hot the Braves are right now I can not pick against them. I’m rolling with the hot home team once again to keep the winning going.

The Atlanta Braves are second in the NL East with a 53-36 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off 4-1 against the Mets last night. The Braves are 7th in the league scoring 4.74 runs per game and are ranked 8th in the league allowing 3.96 runs per game. The Braves will start Charlie Morton tonight who is 5-3 for the season with a 4.21 ERA. Atlanta has won the last 7 games played on Wednesday and 10 of the last 13 third games of a series.

The New York Mets are on top of the NL East with a 54-34 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are currently tied at one game apiece in the series against the Braves. The Mets are 4th in the league scoring 4.80 runs per game and are ranked 7th in the league allowing 3.95 runs per game. Chris Bassitt will start for the Mets tonight who is 6-6 for the season with a 3.94 ERA. The Mets have won 14 of the last 19 third games of a series and 5 of the last 7 road games.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Francisco Giants – 3:45PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game number one it was the Diamondbacks who got the win. In game number two it was the Giants who got the win to even up the series heading into game three.

As solid as the Arizona Diamondbacks looked after game one of this series, they looked ten times worse in game number two as they were defeated by the Giants. It was a terrible loss as the final score was an embarrassing 13-0 win in favor of the San Francisco Giants. The Diamondbacks come into this game with a record of 39-49 through their first 88 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost six out of their last ten games on the year and come into this game on a one game losing streak. 

The San Francisco Giants are coming into this game looking to win the finale and take this three game series against their National League West division rivals. They got a huge win in game number two and will have a pile of momentum heading into the finale on Wednesday afternoon. The Giants will come into this game with a record of 44-42 through their first 86 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won four of their last ten games on the year.

The San Francisco Giants got a blowout win on Tuesday to make up for the close loss they suffered on Monday to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The win was aided by the 8 runs scored in the first three innings of the game, as that was enough to just coast their way to win #44 on the year. 

The Diamondbacks are now 10 games under .500 and will have Zac Gallen on the mound for Wednesday’s series finale. Gallen started the year 4-0 but since then hasn’t won a start since May. He’s not doing enough to put his guys in winning positions right now and the Giants will be riding high on confidence so I’m rolling with them in this one.

The San Francisco Giants are third in the NL West with a 44-42 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 13-0 win over the Diamondbacks last night. The Giants are 6th in the league scoring 4.76 runs per game and are ranked 18th in the league allowing 4.40 runs per game. They will start Carlos Rodon tonight who is 8-5 for the season with a 2.70 ERA. San Francisco has lost 4 of the last 5 home games and 5 of the last 9 games against NL West opponents.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fourth in the NL West with a 38-48 record. They have lost 5 of the last 7 games and are currently tied at 1-1 in the series against the Giants. The Diamondbacks are 19th in the league scoring 4.34 runs per game and 24th allowing 4.79 runs per game. Arizona will start Merrill Kelly tonight who is 7-5 for the season with a 3.42 ERA. Boston Red Sox @ Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10PM ET

The Boston Red and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the third game of their four game series in this one. The Rays picked up the win in game number one. In game number two it was the Rays who got the win to clinch a share of the series heading into game three.

The Boston Red Sox choked away a sure fire victory against the Tampa Bay Rays in game two of their series. Now they find themselves in a two games to zero hole and in danger of losing the entire series. They will have to pull out a victory in game number three and in the finale on Thursday as well to keep some momentum heading into the weekend. The Red Sox are coming into this game with a record of 47-41 through their first 88 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Tampa Bay Rays come into this game with a huge opportunity to take three out of four games over their American League East division rivals. They come into this game with a record of 47-40 through their first 87 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season as they have now moved into second place in the division. They have won six out of their last ten games on the year and currently find themselves on a two game winning streak.

Chris Sale made his return to the mound on Tuesday and worked five scoreless innings. Unfortunately, he exited the game in line for a win with a 2-0 lead but the bullpen could not hold that lead and the Tampa Bay Rays escaped with the 3-2 win. The performance by Sale was still encouraging and Boston is hoping his return is enough to push them into the postseason. 

The Rays have now won 4 of their last 5 against the Red Sox and are throwing their ace Shane McClanahan out on Wednesday to extend that stretch. He’s given up one run or fewer in six consecutive starts and there’s no reason to believe he’ll finally throw a dud in this spot. I like him to stay hot and lead his Rays to their third consecutive win in the series, setting them up for a sweep on Thursday.

The Tampa Bay Rays are second in the AL East with a 47-40 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games but have won the opening two in the series against the Red Sox. The Rays are 22nd in the league scoring 4.22 runs per game and are ranked 6th in the league allowing 3.94 runs per game. Tampa Bay will start Shane McClanahan tonight who is 9-3 for the season with a 1.73 ERA. The Rays have won 6 of the last 7 games against teams with a winning record and 16 of the last 23 third games of a series.

The Boston Red Sox are third in the AL East with a 47-41 record. They have lost 6 of the last 8 games including the last two against the Rays. The Red Sox are 3rd in the league scoring 4.77 runs per game and are ranked 13th in the league allowing 4.26 runs per game. Boston will start Josh Winckowski who 3-3 for the season with a 4.35 ERA. The Red Sox have won 6 of the last 7 third games of a series and 5 of the last 6 games played on Wednesday.

Houston Astros @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:38PM ET

The Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels will be playing the second game of their three game series in this one. It was the Astros who got the win in game number one. Now they will be looking to clinch the series victory in game number two.

It was a bumpy ride for the American League West division leading Houston Astros in game one of their series on Tuesday night. As they held a five to one lead at one point in the game. Then they proceeded to give up that lead late in the game as the Los Angeles Angels tied it at five in the bottom of the seventh inning when they scored four runs. The Astros still managed to pick up the win as they now come into game two of this series with a record of 57-29 through their first 76 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Los Angeles Angels squandered a huge opportunity on Tuesday night after rallying to tie the game late. Now they will have to find a way to win game two of this series to not only give themselves a shot to win in game three and take the series, but to avoid the sweep as well. The Angels come into Wednesday’s game with a record of 38-50 through their first 88 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season, which is so disappointing after the fast start to the season that they had.

The Houston Astros blew their four-run lead in the 7th inning against the Los Angeles Angels but still managed to hold on for the win 6-5. The win pushed the Astros to 9-2 in the month of July including four wins over their division rival Angels who are just 1-9 in the month of July.

They are one of the worst teams in baseball at the moment despite having two of the best players in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is getting the start for the second game of the series on Wednesday but given his team’s recent stretch of play, I can’t even back him to turn things around. These two teams are heading in opposite directions and the safe play for the time being is the Astros on the road.

The Los Angeles Angels are fourth in the AL West with a 38-50 record. They have lost the last 5 games and came into this series after a 0-4 series loss to the Baltimore Orioles. The Angels are 25th in the league scoring 4.07 runs per game and 15th in the league allowing 4.31 runs per game. The Angels will start Shohei Ohtani tonight who is 8-4 for the season with a 2.44 ERA. The Angels have lost 15 of the last 21 home games and 10 of the last 11 games against teams with a winning record over 60%.

The Houston Astros are on top of the AL West with a 57-29 record. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 6-5 win in the series opener against the Angels. The Astros are 13th scoring 4.59 runs per game and are ranked third in the league allowing 3.37 runs per game. Houston will start Cristian Javier tonight who is 6-4 for the season with a 3.01 ERA. The Astros have won 11 of the last 12 road games against a right-handed starter and 21 of the last 28 games against AL West teams.
