Los Angeles Angels @ New York Yankees – 7:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Angels come into this game after picking up a victory on Monday afternoon in their series finale against the Boston Red Sox. Now they will remain on the East Coast as they travel north to New York City to play the New York Yankees. They will have a much tougher task ahead of them against the Yankees than they did against Boston as they will have to play the best baseball throughout the week if they want to win the series in the Bronx. Jose Suarez will be on the mound for the Angels in this one as they look to pick up their ninth victory of the season.

The New York Yankees come into this game for games above .500 as they have picked up 10 victories in their first 16 games of the season. However, that is still not good enough for first place in the American League East division. After the incredible start the Tampa Bay Rays had this season. So New York will be looking to grab a victory in this game and in the series to gain ground on Tampa Bay as we move into the later part of the month of April. Clarke Schmidt will be on the mound for the New York Yankees in this one in his last start against the Cleveland Guardians he performed well. However, because of the pitching matchup in this one, I expect the total run line to go over here on Tuesday evening at Yankee Stadium.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Over 9.5 (-105)

Minnesota Twins @ Boston Red Sox – 7:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Twins come into the series looking to increase their lead in the American League Central division after their solid start to the season. They are coming off of a four-game series against the New York Yankees and now they will remain on the East Coast to play the Boston Red Sox for three games throughout the week. They got an early two games to zero lead over the New York Yankees over the weekend, but ended up losing the last two games and come into this game looking to snap their game losing streak.

The Boston Red Sox were tossed around by the Los Angeles Angels during their four-game series over the weekend as well. Boston will be looking to gain some momentum during the course of this series against the Minnesota twins throughout the week. Boston will have Chris Sale on the mound for this one so they should have the advantage in the pitching matchup, but it awaits to be seen if their offense can come through here on Tuesday evening. I look for this one to be a low-scoring game between two quality, starting pitchers and in the end I have Minnesota pulling out the victory.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Minnesota Twins (-110)

Toronto Blue Jays @ Houston Astros – 8:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Toronto Blue Jays come into this game after taking two out of three games from the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend and ending their undefeated streak. Now they move on to another top American League contender as they had south to Houston to play the Astros throughout the week. It won’t get much easier for them against Houston as they still have to face a lethal lineup with a solid rotation of starting pitching for the next few games. However, if the weekend showed us anything, Toronto is perfectly capable of handling that and they have a legitimate opportunity to pick up a series victory this week.

The Houston Astros looked amazing last night during the opening game of the series against the Toronto Blue Jays as they cruised their way to a 9-2 victory. Now they will be looking to take the second game of the series as well against Toronto on Tuesday evening, but the Blue Jays are perfectly capable of bouncing back here on Tuesday themselves. It has been a slow start to the season for defending world champions as they come into this game one game below .500 for the first 17 games of the season. I don’t look for it to get better for them in this one as I have the Toronto Blue Jays picking up the victory.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Toronto Blue Jays (-105)

Milwaukee Brewers @ Seattle Mariners – 9:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers come into this series after a four game weekend series against the San Diego Padres. It was an impressive weekend for them as they took three out of four games on the West Coast from San Diego. Now they will look to keep the momentum rolling as they remain on the West Coast but travel north to the Pacific Northwest to play the Seattle Mariners in interleague play. They already picked up the victory on Monday night in game number one and now they will look to clinch the series here in game number two on Tuesday. This three-game series will be the only meeting of the season between these two teams so they will be looking to make sure they grab themselves a series victory.

It has been a less than ideal start to the season for the Seattle Mariners. They won over 90 games last season and made the playoffs but if they continue on the trajectory they are on this year they will have their first losing season in three years. They already find themselves down a game in this three game series after their blowout loss last night to the Milwaukee Brewers. Now they will be looking to bounce back in game number two and avoid going into Wednesday’s finale with the opportunity to get swept. They have Logan Gilbert on the mound for this one which gives them the pitching advantage and that’s why I think Seattle grabs a victory in this one as well.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Seattle Mariners (-160)

Atlanta Braves @ San Diego Padres – 9:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Atlanta Braves are off to a stellar start to the season, and now they are playing a San Diego Padres team that has struggled during the early part of the year. They already picked up the victory in game number one of the series last night on Monday and now they will be looking to clinch the series with another victory here on Tuesday evening at Petco Park. The only scoring of the game was a two run home run by Austin Riley, and that is all the Braves needed as they kept the San Diego Padres off of the scoreboard on Monday evening. The victory also allowed the Braves to pull one back from San Diego after losing three out of four to open up the year. Now with another victory they would even up the season series heading into the seventh and final game on Wednesday afternoon.

The San Diego Padres will not only be looking to even up this series with the Atlanta Braves, but with a victory they would clinch the season series and the tiebreaker over the Atlanta Braves as well. That could loom large come October when these two teams potentially meet in the postseason if they were to finish with the same record in the regular season. San Diego’s offense looked lethargic last night as they didn’t score a single run during the game. I don’t expect to get much better for them here in the second game of the series either as I think Atlanta gets their second consecutive victory over San Diego in the series tonight.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Atlanta Braves (-140)
