Houston Astros @ Baltimore Orioles – 12:35PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Houston Astros come into the finale of this series looking to cap off their road trip against the American League East division with a comfortable victory against the Baltimore Orioles. Houston has been solid and consistent throughout the last few months of the season after having a sluggish start to the year thanks to their championship hangover. Houston has already picked up the first two victories of this series and they will be looking to finish off this series on Thursday afternoon by completing the three game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles. Houston will be at a disadvantage in this one with Hunter Brown taking the mound against Dean Kremer, but they will be looking to overcome Matt and put up another crooked number on the board here on Thursday.

The Baltimore Orioles are looking to grab a huge victory in the finale of this series to extend their lead in the American League East division. They have been the best team in the American League this season and they can further establish that claim by capping off a solid performance in this series against the defending World Series champions here on Thursday afternoon. Baltimore will be looking to bounce back against the Houston Astros after two consecutive losses at home to Houston as they look to extend their stay as a team with the top record in the American League this season but they will have to play a lot better than they have over the last two days if they want to grab a victory here in this one.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Baltimore Orioles (-105)

Minnesota Twins @ Detroit Tigers – 1:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

Minnesota has been playing solid baseball as of late and they will be looking to pick up another victory in the finale of this series against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon. They will also be looking to increase their leading the American League Central division over Cleveland as they look to put some more distance between themselves and the second place Guardians coming down the final stretch of the season. Minnesota struggled on Wednesday night, and they will be looking to bounce back here on Thursday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers as they look to extend their lead within the division.

The Detroit Tigers aren’t exactly out of playoff contention yet this season because of how weak their division has been, but they will have to turn things around rather quickly if they want to pose an actual threat to playoff contention. It hasn’t been the best of seasons for Detroit, but they have shown more progress than other rebuilding teams, and they seem to be on the verge of breaking out of their current rebuild within the coming seasons. Detroit picked up a solid victory on Wednesday night over Minnesota and I will be looking to replicate that performance here on Thursday afternoon but I don’t see it happening as I have Minnesota grabbing a victory to wrap up this series.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Minnesota Twins (-150)

Toronto Blue Jays @ Cleveland Guardians – 1:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Toronto Blue Jays have flown under the radar this season no pun intended. They will be looking to grab a victory in the finale of this series against Cleveland to further gain ground on Baltimore in the American League East division. Not only will I be looking to catch up to their division rivals, but they will also be looking to extend their lead within the American League wild-card race as well. This is a Toronto Blue Jays team that is very capable of making a deep run in the postseason as long as they remain healthy and consistent throughout the remainder of the regular season. Toronto was able to bounce back and grab the victory on Wednesday night and they will be looking to replicate that performance here on Thursday.

It has been an up-and-down season for Cleveland and they find themselves desperate to pick up some much-needed victories coming down the final stretch of the season. They will be looking to close out this series with the Toronto Blue Jays with a much-needed victory here in the fourth game of this four-game series. Cleveland currently sits a handful of games behind Minnesota in the American League Central division, and they are under .500 coming into the finale of the series as well. It is crucial for them to wrap up this series on a positive note to give them plenty of momentum before heading into a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. However, I don’t see it happening as I have Toronto grabbing the victory.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Toronto Blue Jays (-140)

Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies – 6:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

It’s been a rough season for the Washington Nationals, but they have shown plenty of progress in their ongoing rebuild. However, they are still a couple of years away from being a contending team once again, and there is still plenty of work to do within the organization as well. They come into this game against the Philadelphia Phillies looking to pick up a solid victory to wrap up this series on Thursday night. Washington was unable to record a hit on Wednesday night they will be looking to be a lot more productive here on Thursday and the finale of the series as they look to grab a victory over Philadelphia to clinch at least a share of this four-game series before heading into the weekend.

The Philadelphia Phillies had plenty of expectations coming into the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, they haven’t quite lived up to those expectations as they have been solid. They have fallen behind the other teams in their division like the Atlanta Braves. There is still real potential that they could grab one of the three National League wildcard spots, but it still has looked like an underwhelming season for a team that was expected to contend for a second consecutive National League pennant. Philadelphia and Michael Lorenzen, who was making a Phillies debut on Wednesday night, no-hit Washington and they will be looking to replicate that performance on Thursday. While I don’t expect them to throw another no-hitter, I do have them picking up the victory in the finale of the series.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (-125)

St.Louis Cardinals @ Tampa Bay Rays – 6:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

It has been an awful season for the St. Louis Cardinals as they have been nowhere near as competitive as they were expected to be coming into the year. This is a team that was expected to compete for the National League Central division title, but they have looked like the fifth worst team in the National League Central division, and at this point they are having a worse season than the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are already out of playoff contention and then now they have an opportunity to help play spoiler to the Tampa Bay Rays division title hopes. St. Louis will be looking to cap off this series with another victory over Tampa Bay here on Thursday night.

Tampa Bay has been in a bit of a skid since coming out of the All-Star break and they will need to recover quickly if they want to stay within striking distance of Baltimore in the American League East division. They recently found out they may have lost potential Cy Young Award winner, Shane McClanahan, for the remainder of the regular season and postseason after he injured his arm about a week ago. Even without McClanahan in the starting rotation, this team still boasts a solid pitching staff, and they still have an opportunity to make a deep run into the postseason but without their ace, it does make it that much tougher. I expect Tampa Bay to bounce back from their loss on Wednesday night to pick up a victory here on Thursday.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

TB Rays (-175)
