Kansas City Royals @ Baltimore Orioles – 1:35PM ET

The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles will be playing the first and second games of their three game series in this one. After rainouts on Friday and Saturday they will finally  get to play the Orioles as they will face off in a doubleheader in this one.

Tony Battalio

The Kansas City Royals are having a rough start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As they come into this game with a record of 8-15 through their first 23 games of the season. They are currently in fourth place of the American League Central at the moment as they will look to improve throughout the month of May. In their last game on Wednesday they were blown out by the St.Louis Cardinals as they lost 0-10. Now they will be looking to bounce back against Baltimore.

The Orioles are also having a rough start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season, as they are seemingly stuck in an endless rebuild. They come into this game with a record of 10-16 through their first 26 games of the season. However, they are currently on a two game winning streak at the moment after two straight wins over the Minnesota Twins. As for the result of this game I am taking the Kansas City Royals to pick up the victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Kansas City Royals (-108)

Jeffery Thomas

The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles were rained out for the second day in a row on Saturday because of rain. Now because of that, the two teams will try to play a doubleheader on Sunday, weather permitting, and then the series finale on Monday on what was supposed to be a mutual day off.

The Orioles will give the ball to Jordan Lyles here and he should have a good outing against this weak Royals lineup. The Orioles interestingly have the third-best home team ERA while Kansas City in the road has an ERA of 4.50, good for 23rd. I like the Os here to keep their decent home form going, as they’ve won four of their last six at home.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Baltimore Orioles (-108)

Marko Nadin

The Baltimore Orioles are fourth in the AL East with a 10-16 record. They have won 4 of the last 6 games and are coming off back-to-back wins over the Minnesota Twins. The Orioles are ranked 25th in the league scoring 3.49 runs per game and 20th allowing 4.32 runs per game. Jordan Lyles will start for the Orioles tonight who is 2-2 for the season with a 4.50 ERA. Baltimore has lost 7 of the last 10 games against teams with a losing record under 40 % and 14 of the last 17 games opening a double-header.

The Kansas City Royals are fourth in the AL Central with a 8-15 record. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 10-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Royals are the worst team in the league when it comes to scoring with a 3.07 runs per game and 26th in the league with 4.79 runs per game. The Royals will start Zack Greinke tonight who is 0-2 for the season with a 2.57 ERA. The Royals have lost 5 of the last 7 road games and 5 of the last 6 games against a team with a losing record under 40%.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Baltimore Orioles (-108)

New York Mets @ Philadelphia Phillies – 1:35PM ET

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets will be playing the second and third games of their four game series in this one. After rainouts on Friday and Saturday they will finally get to play as they will face off in a doubleheader in this one.

Tony Battalio

The New York Mets have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball so far this season. They come into this game with a record of 19-9 through their first 28 games of the season. They own the season series over the Philadelphia Phillies by somewhat of a lopsided margin at this point through nearly ten games between the two teams. The Mets are currently in first place in the National League East.

The Philadelphia Phillies are off to a rough start after the first month of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this game with a record of 11-15 through their first 26 games of the season. A decent amount of those losses have come at the hands of the New York Mets, as they have lost five of their seven games against the Mets this season up until this point. As for the result of this one I am going with the New York Mets to add another win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: New York Mets

Jeffery Thomas

The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies also had their second game in a row cancelled and now will try for a doubleheader on Sunday. It puts the Phillies in a rough spot, as they have to travel West after these two games Sunday for a seven-game road trip to Seattle and Los Angeles. The Mets will stay East and play a three-game series with the Washington Nationals.

Max Scherzer is getting the start against Kyle Gibson and when Mad Max takes the mound you bet on him. He is on a personal winning-streak of 13 games and with the Mets looking like the best team in baseball right now, I don’t see the Phillies giving them much resistance.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Philadelphia Phillies

Marko Nadin

The Philadelphia Phillies are fourth in the NL East with a 11-15 record. They have lost the last four games including a 8-7 loss in the series opener against the Mets. Philadelphia is 9th in the league scoring 4.66 runs per game and hitting 1.01 home runs per game. The Phillies will start Jordan Montgomery who is 0-1 for the season with a 2.88 ERA. The Phillies have lost 5 of the last 7 second games of a series and 23 of the last 31 games opening a double-header.

The New York Mets are on top of the NL East with a 19-9 record. They have won 3 of the last 4 games. The Mets are ranked 10th in the league scoring 4.61 runs per game and 6th in the league allowing 3.46 runs per game. Chris Bassitt will start for them tonight who is 3-2 for the season with a 2.61 ERA. The Mets have won 6 of the last 7 games against a right-handed starter, 4 of the last 5 road games and 8 of the last 11 games played on Sunday.

Marko’s MLB Pick: New York Mets

Texas Rangers @ New York Yankees – 1:35PM ET

After rainouts in game number one and game number two that were scheduled for the start of the weekend, the Yankees and Rangers will finally meet. As they are set to play game one of a doubleheader in this one. This series was originally supposed to be four games and now it will only be three.

Tony Battalio

The Texas Rangers paid a lot of money out during the offseason to get them back into a competitive situation heading into the 2022 Major League Baseball season. However, at the moment it’s not quite paying the way they would’ve hoped it would. As they come into this game under the .500 mark with a record of 10-14 through their first 24 games of the season. There is still plenty of time to turn things around but at this rate they are on pace to finish the year with a record of 78-84 and in the bottom half of the American League standings.

Much like their subway series  rivals the New York Mets, the Bronx Bombers have also been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball so far this season. As they come into this game with a record of 18-7 through their first 25 games of the year. They are currently in first place of the American League East and are on pace to win over 100 games. Their ace Geritt Cole will take the mound for them in this one as he comes into this game with a 3-0 record and a 3.00 Earned Run Average. As for the result of this game I am going with the Yankees to win game one of this doubleheader.

Tony’s MLB Pick: New York Yankees (-235)

Jeffery Thomas

As the rain swept through the East Coast it impacted the status of many games in the MLB and the series opener for the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees was no exception. It was actually the second straight game postponed for them as well, and now they will play a doubleheader on Sunday much like a few other teams who were affected by the weather. It’s a battle of two teams in good form, as the Yankees have the best record in baseball after a recent 11-game winning streak and Texas comes in on a four-game win streak.

The Yankees will have a significant advantage on the mound as Gerrit Cole gets the start against Dane Dunning. Cole is finding his groove, pitching over 12 combined innings in his last two outings, going 2-0 and not allowing a single earned run. The Yankees offense has been firing of late and should do plenty against Dunning who has given up at least 2 runs in every outing but one this year. I like New York to get game 1 of this doubleheader and push Cole’s record out to 3-0 on the year.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: New York Yankees (-235)

Marko Nadin

The New York Yankees are on top of the AL East with an 18-7 record. The Yankees were on a 13-game winning streak before losing 2-1 against the Toronto Blue Jays in the last one. The Yankees are the best team in the league hitting 1.48 home runs per game and are ranked 4th with 4.77 scored runs per game. They are the second-best defensive team in the league allowing 2.80 runs per game. Gerritt Cole will start for the Yankees tonight who is 2-0 for the season with a 3.00 ERA. The Yankees have won the last 7 home games.

The Texas Rangers are third in the AL West with a 10-14 record. They have won the last 4 games against Atlanta and Philadelphia. The Rangers are 13th in the league scoring 4.39 runs per game and are ranked 23rd allowing 4.52 runs per game. Dane Dunning will start for Texas tonight who is 1-1 for the season with a 3.81 ERA. Texas has won 4 of the last 5 games against a right-handed pitcher and 17 of the last 25 games opening a double-header.

Marko’s MLB Pick: New York Yankees (-196)

Milwaukee Brewers @ Atlanta Braves – 1:35PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves will be playing the finale of their three game weekend series in this one. As they were seemingly the only series that was unaffected by rainouts and bad weather this weekend. It’s tied one game a piece so it will be winner take all in this one.

Tony Battalio

Both the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves were in the 2021 Major League Baseball playoffs. However, it was a very different type of postseason for both of them as well, as the Brewers were an early exit, and the Braves went on to be the 2021 World Series champions. Now the 2022 seasons are starting to look entirely different as well. As Milwaukee is off to a fantastic start while the Braves are experiencing a championship hangover throughout the first month of the season.

The Brewers come into this game with a record of 19-9 through their first 26 games of the season as they are currently in first place of the National League Central division. While the Braves come into this game with a record of 13-16 through their first 29 games of the season which puts them in the middle of the pack in the National League East standings. As for the result of this game I am going with the Milwaukee Braves to get the win and take the series.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Milwaukee Brewers (+108)

Jeffery Thomas

The Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers continued their three-game weekend series on Saturday with the Braves coming out on top 3-2. No runs were scored until the fifth-inning when Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a homerun to give Atlanta the lead. Max Fried out pitched Corbin Burnes of the Brewers, allowing just one run in 7 innings while striking out eight batters. In this rematch of the NLDS from last season, the two teams have split the first two contests and will now play for the series win on Sunday.

The Braves have looked like a team with a championship hangover early on and a big reason for that is the drop off in production from their ace Charlie Morton. Morton has just a 1-3 record with an ERA of 6.85 and he has allowed 4 or more runs in three of his five starts. Meanwhile, the Brewers have had a great start to the year and have a great pitching staff once again. Yes, they won on Saturday but I can’t back the Braves with Morton on the mound right now, so I’m taking the Brewers to take care of this struggling starter.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Milwaukee Brewers (+108)

Marko Nadin

The Atlanta Braves are third in the NL East with a 13-16 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games but are coming off a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The defending champions are fifth in the league hitting 1.24 home runs per game and 19th scoring 4 runs per game. Charlie Morton will start for the Braves tonight who is 1-3 for the season with a 6.85 ERA. Atlanta has lost 5 of the last 7 games on grass and 4 of the last 5 third games of a series.

The Milwaukee Brewers are on top of the NL Central with a 19-9 record. They were on a four-game winning streak before losing 3-2 to the Braves in the series opener. The Brewers are second in the league scoring 4.96 runs per game and fourth allowing 3.39 runs per game. Milwaukee will start Aaron Ashby who is 0-2 for the season with a 2.33 ERA. The Brewers have won 6 of the last 7 road games and 61 of the last 81 against a team with a losing record.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Milwaukee Brewers (+108)

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Cincinnati Reds – 1:40PM ET

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds will be playing the finale game of their three game series in this one. As of right now the series in tied at one game a piece after they split the doubleheader yesterday. Now whoever wins the finale on Sunday will take the series as well.

Tony Battalio

The Pittsburgh Pirates are coming into this game looking to avoid giving the Cincinnati Reds their first series win of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The Pirates are within reach of the .500 mark at the moment as they come into this game with a record of 11-15 through their first 26 games of the season. In yesterday’s doubleheader they picked up a win in number two to split and keep the hopes of a series win alive in this one. They will send Zach Thompson to the mound in this one as he has a record of 0-3 on the season with an Earned Run Average of 9.39 at the moment.

The Cincinnati Reds finally snapped their losing streak yesterday with a win in game one of their doubleheader with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now they will be looking to grab their first series win of the season. They are coming into this game with the worst record in Major League Baseball so far this year as it currently sits at 4-23 through their first 27 games of the season. As for the result of this game, I look for the Cincinnati Reds to get another win and win the series two games to one over their National League Central division rival.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Cincinnati Reds (-136)

Jeffery Thomas

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds will wrap up their three-game series on Sunday after splitting a doubleheader on Saturday. Game 1 went to the Reds who put up a season-high 9 runs in what was just their fourth win on the season. They have the worst record in the league at 4-23 and quickly got back to their losing ways later that day, dropping Game 2 by the score of 8-5. The Pirates are also having a rough season with a record of 11-15, which is good for third place in the NL Central ahead of only the Chicago Cubs and Reds.

The Reds are still without a series win on the year and I see this as a good spot for them to finally check that box. Tyler Mahle hasn’t had a great start to the season but he’s shown a lot more at this level than Pirates starter Zach Thomson, who has an ERA north of 9 and just one win on the year. It’s never going to feel good backing the Reds but they just showed the Pirates are a team they can beat and Sunday will be another rare win for them.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Cincinnati Reds (-136)

Marko Nadin

The Cincinnati Reds are at the bottom of the NL Central with the worst record in the league of 4 wins and 23 losses. The Reds have lost 10 of the last 11 games, winning the series opener against the Pirates by 9-2 before losing the next one 8-5. The Reds 23rd in the league scoring 3.67 runs per game and the last team in the league allowing 6.95 runs per game. Cincinnati will start Tyler Mahle who is 1-4 for the season with a 7.01 ERA. The Reds have lost 7 of their last 9 home games.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are third in the NL Central with a 11-15 record and they have lost 8 of their last 11 games. The Pirates are 20th in the league scoring 3.93 runs per game and second to last allowing 5.55 runs per game. Zach Thompson will start tonight for the Pirates who is 1-3 for the season with a 9.39 ERA. The Pirates have lost 11 of the last 16 games played on Sunday and 7 of their last 8 games against a right-handed pitcher.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates (+116)
