San Diego Padres @ Washington Nationals – 12:05PM ET

The San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game one it was the Padres who got the win. In game two the Nationals evened up the series heading into game three. Now they will be looking to win the series here on Sunday afternoon.

The San Diego Padres let a huge opportunity to lock the series up slip away on Saturday evening. Now they will be looking to bounce back in game three and win the series against a struggling Washington Nationals team. After the announcement of the suspension of Fernando Tatís Junior for the remainder of the year it’ll be interesting to see how San Diego plays without him much like they have done all season long. They have been fine without him for the most part, as they come into this game with a record of 64-52 through their first 116 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

It has been an abysmal season for the Washington Nationals as they have been one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball. However, they have a huge opportunity to take two out of three games from the San Diego Padres this weekend. They picked up a big win on Saturday and will now look to carry that momentum into Sunday’s finale and grab their first series win in nearly a month. The Nationals come into this game with a record of 38-77 through their first 115 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season

The San Diego Padres could not string together any clutch at-bats and ultimately fell 4-3 to the Washington Nationals on Saturday night. The worst part is they were up 3-0 in the fourth inning before all of their bats went cold for the rest of the game. Yu Darvish was tagged with the loss, his sixth of the season, and will surely be frustrated knowing his team left 12 men on base during the duration of this game. 

I think this was a game that the Nationals were lucky to win and things will be corrected in the series finale on Sunday. Pablo Espino (0-4 4.04 ERA) is most likely not going to last too long in this contest against a lineup that has so much potency. Blake Snell’s season long numbers aren’t great for San Diego but he has been lights out recently, never giving up more than 1 run in any of his last four starts (3-1). Give me the Padres and all of their massive advantages in this one.

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 38-77 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 4-3 win overt the Padres last night. Washington will start Paolo Espino tonight who is 0-4 for the season with a 4.04 ERA. The Nationals have lost 35 of the last 52 home games against teams with left-handed starters and 38 of the last 51 third games of a series.

The San Diego Padres are second in the NL West with a 64-52 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are currently tied at one game apiece in the series against the Nationals. The Padres are 14th in the league scoring 4.51 runs per game and are 10th in the league allowing 4.13 runs per game. San Diego will start Blake Snell tonight who is 4-6 for the season with a 3.96 ERA. The Padres have won 8 of the last 9 games against right-handed starters and 12 of the last 16 games against teams with a losing record under 40%.

Cleveland Guardians @ Toronto Blue Jays – 1:37PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians and Toronto Blue Jays will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game one of the series the Guardians got the victory. In game two the Blue Jays picked up the win to even up the series heading into the finale.

The Cleveland Guardians will be looking to bounce back after their tough loss on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The series is now tied at one piece and the winner of Sunday’s finale will take the series as well. The loss to Toronto snaps a six game winning streak but the Guardians are still in great shape as they remain in first place of the American League Central heading into Sunday. They come into this game with a record of 60-53 through their first 113 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Toronto Blue Jays got a big much-needed win on Saturday over Cleveland and now they will be looking to take the finale on Sunday to clinch a series victory. The win brings the Blue Jays record to 61-51 through their first 112 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have picked up four victories in their last 10 games on the year and will come into this game on a one game winning streak. However, I have them losing the finale of the series to the Cleveland Guardians.

The Toronto Blue Jays put an end to the Cleveland Guardians six-game winning streak with a 2-1 win on Saturday night. The win also snapped a three-game losing streak of their own thanks in large part to Teoscar Hernandez and his tiebreaking home run in the 7th inning. 

Vladimir Guerrero Jr also was able to extend his career-high hitting streak out to 22 games in the win, which is the longest active streak in the majors. It was Toronto’s 23rd one-run victory of the season which is good for second in the league behind only the Seattle Mariners. Putting the Guardians as underdogs after just one loss though may be a bit of an overreaction, especially with Shane Beiber taking the mound for them. The former Cy Young winner has won three straight starts and I think he gets some help from his offense to help lead his guys to yet another win in this series finale.

The Toronto Blue Jays are second in the AL East with a 61-51 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 win over the Guardians last night. The Blue Jays are 5th in the league scoring 4.81 runs per game and are ranked 16th with 4.33 allowed runs per game. Toronto will start Kevin Gausmans tonight who is 8-8 for the season with a 2.91 ERA. The Blue Jays have won the last 4 games played on Sunday and 7 of the last 10 home games.

The Cleveland Guardians are on top of the AL Central with a 60-53 record. Last night’s loss to the Blur Jays put an end to their six-game winning streak. Cleveland is 16th in the league scoring 4.40 runs per game and is ranked 11th in the league allowing 4.22 runs per game. The Guardians will start Shane Bieber tonight who is 7-6 for the season with 3.21 ERA. Cleveland has won 4 of the last 5 road games against teams with a winning record and 5 of the last 7 games against teams from the AL East.

Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays – 1:40PM ET

The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game one it was the Baltimore Orioles that got the win. In game two the Tampa Bay Rays got the bounce back win to even the series heading into game three.

The Baltimore Orioles will be looking to bounce back after their loss on Saturday evening to their American League East divisional rivals, the Tampa Bay Rays. Both of these teams are fighting for the third and final wildcard spot in the American League at the moment as it is fair to say that their division is pretty much out of reach at this point unless a miracle collapse by the New York Yankees were to occur. Baltimore comes into this game with a record of 59-54 through their first 113 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

Tampa Bay Rays will be Looking to capitalize on the momentum they gained from their win on Saturday to take two out of three games in the series. Tampa Bay comes into this game with a record of 59-53 through their first 112 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have picked up five victories in their last 10 games on the year and will come into this game on one game winning streak. However, I have them losing the series finale to the Baltimore Orioles.

The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays continue their battle for that last wild card spot with the contest on Saturday going the way of the home Rays. It was nice to see All Star pitcher Shane McClanahan get back on track after a couple losses in a row and Tampa improved their post all star break record to 8-12. It was a rough debut start for DL Hall of the Orioles as he allowed five runs in just 3.2 innings of work. 

The series finale on a Sunday has the makings of a good one as one of these two teams will break the 9-9 tie between them on the season. They’ve been evenly matched all year head to head and also are separated by just one game in the standings so the rivalry is real. I have to give the edge to the home team in this one though, as they are 34-22 on the season at home while the Os are just 26-33. The Rays also have a much better bullpen and that is what I believe will be the deciding factor in a close series finale.

Oakland Athletics @ Houston Astros – 2:10PM ET

The Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game one of the series the Astros got the victory. Houston added another win in game two to clinch the series and now they will be looking for the sweep here in game three.

The Oakland Athletics will look to avoid being swept by their American League West division rivals here in game three on Sunday. It has been a terrible year for the Athletics but everyone likely saw it coming after their fire sale right before the season started. They come into this game with a record of 41-73 through their first 114 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have lost eight out of the last 10 games on the year and will come to this game on a seven game losing streak. They are currently 32 1/2 games out of first place in the division.

The Houston Astros just keep rolling as they will look to complete the three game weekend sweep over Oakland here on Sunday. They have now won their last three games in a row and have picked up seven victories in their last 10. After Seattle’s loss they now hold a 12 game lead over the second place team in the American League West division. They come into this game with a record of 74-41 through the first 115 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Houston Astros were able to back up their win in Friday’s series opener by taking Saturday’s game as well in blowout fashion to add to their already huge division lead. They also lead the American League and are feeling really good about their chances for a deep run with just a month and a half left in the regular season. Lance McCullers Jr. made his season debut and picked up right where he left off last season, pitching 6 strong innings, striking out 5 and only allowing two hits. 

Him being back with the team following his injury only boosts their chances at a World Series run as pitching becomes so much more important in the postseason. This game Sunday will be another one where the home Astros are heavily favored and they should once again have no problems with an As team that has now lost seven games in a row.

The Oakland Athletics are at the bottom of the AL West with a 41-73 record. They have lost the last 7 games including the first two of the series against the Astros. The Athletics are second to last in the league scoring 3.45 runs per game and are 23rd in the league allowing 4.65 runs per game. Oakland will start Cole Irvin tonight who is 6-9 for the season with 2.92 ERA. Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers – 2:35PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will be playing the third and final game of their three game series in this one. In game one the Mariners got the win and in game two the Rangers bounced back with a win. Now they will play a series deciding game on Sunday.

The Seattle Mariners will be looking to bounce back after their loss in game two on Saturday. They’ve been consistent throughout the season and they look like they’re going to break their decades long streak of missing the postseason when this year‘s regular season wraps up. They come into this game with a record of 62-53 through their first 115 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have picked up six victories and their last 10 games of the year and currently sit in second place of the American League West division and currently hold onto one of the three wild card spots in the American League. 

The Texas Rangers have been a lot less successful this season despite the massive amount of money they spent during the off-season. They come into this one 13 games below the .500 mark as they sit in third place in the American League West but way out of the division title race at this point. They have lost six out of their last 10 on the year and currently find themselves 23 games out of first place. I look for that margin to get even wider in this one as I am taking Seattle to pick up the win in the finale.

The Texas Rangers were able to put an end to a long losing streak on Saturday night, taking down the surging Seattle Mariners 7-4. Corey Seager played a hand in the victory as he blasted his 26th home run of the year, matching a career-high. Seattle’s loss in this one ended a nine-game winning streak against the Rangers, which is the longest streak in franchise history against their division rivals.

 It’s just the 14th loss in the last 47 games for the Mariners as they sit a half game behind Toronto for the top wild card spot in the American League. Martin Perez will be on the mound for Texas in the finale and is coming off his first loss in 20 starts. The Mariners counter with Logan Gilbert who has given up 13 runs in his last two starts. This total being set at just 8 seems off for where these pitchers currently stand form-wise and I think we can get a few runs on the board here so give me the over.

The Rangers are 13th in the league scoring 4.53 runs per game and are ranked 21th in the league allowing 4.57 runs per game. The Rangers will start Martin Perez who is 9-3 for the season with a 2.85 ERA. Texas has lost 38 of the last 55 third games of a series and 9 of the last 12 games played on Sunday.

The Seattle Mariners are second in the AL West with a 62-53 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 4-7 loss to the Rangers last night. The Mariners are 23rd in the league scoring 4.07 runs per game and 5th in the league allowing 3.93 runs per game. Seattle will start Logan Gilbert tonight who is 10-5 for the season with a 3.47 ERA. Seattle has won the last 5 road games against teams with a left-handed starter and 22 of the last 27 games against teams with a losing record.
