Colorado Rockies @ Miami Marlins – 1:10PM ET

The Colorado Rockies had a fantastic start to this series after they pounced all over the Miami Marlins in the opening game on Friday night. They took advantage of a struggling Marlins team to jump ahead early and they held the lead throughout nine innings to pick up a much-needed victory to open up the series on the road. Now they will be looking to grab another victory here on Saturday afternoon to officially clinch the series over the Miami Marlins, and set up the opportunity for a sweep on Sunday. The victory on Friday snapped a one game losing streak for Colorado and they will be looking to use the momentum from that game to grab another victory here in this one.

The Miami Marlins are in a dark spot at the moment and they will need to snap out of it quickly if they want to continue to challenge for a playoff spot in the National League. Their loss to Colorado on Friday night marks their seventh consecutive defeat on the year and they will need to get out of this slump that they are in rather quickly. They held onto a National League wildcard spot for the majority of the year before this slump started, and now they find themselves on the outside looking in, as the month of July continues to come and go. However, I expect them to bounce back and pick up the victory here in game number two of this series against Colorado on Saturday afternoon.

St.Louis Cardinals @ Chicago Cubs – 2:20PM ET

St. Louis dropped a close game in the second game of this four-game series to the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon. Now they will be looking to bounce back here in game number three of the series on Saturday afternoon and take a two games to one lead before heading into Sunday’s finale. It is just another bump in the road for the Cardinals, who have had a rough season and their chances to recover continue to slip away with each loss. The defeat also breaks their lengthy winning streak as they were starting to gather some momentum throughout the week. Now they will need to bounce back in a big way if they want to avoid dropping another game to Chicago over the weekend. 

The Chicago Cubs grabbed a much-needed victory thanks to a two run home run from Cody Bellinger on Friday afternoon. Now they will be looking to pick up their second consecutive victory of this series against the St. Louis Cardinals here on Saturday afternoon at home. The victory over St. Louis broke a losing streak for Chicago, and they will be looking to capitalize off that momentum as they try to call their way back into the National League wild card and National League Central division title race. However, I look for St. Louis to recover and grab a victory in the third game of this four game weekend series here on Saturday afternoon.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Cincinnati Reds – 4:10PM ET

Despite falling short in the opening game of the series against the Cincinnati Reds, the Arizona Diamondbacks showed a ton of fight as they attempted to mount a comeback late in the game. They will be looking to bounce back in the second game of the series against Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon at Great American Ballpark. They have been one of the biggest surprises of the season as they have exceeded their expectations, and they find themselves in the thick of the playoff race in the National League. They even led the National League West division, for the majority of the first half of the season before finally relinquishing the lead to Los Angeles as they started the second half of the year.

The Cincinnati Reds grabbed a huge victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night and they will be looking to do the same on Saturday afternoon at home. The Reds have caught fire since calling up top prospect Elly De La Cruz a month or so back and they are now in a prime position to make a run at the National League Central division title or a wildcard spot in the National League. The Reds come into the second game of this series with a record of 53-46 through their first 99 games of the season and they come into the second game of this series on a three game winning streak. I expect them to grab another win here on Saturday. 

Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays – 4:10PM ET

The Baltimore Orioles will be looking to bounce back after their loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night. They were unable to put any runs on the board and they will need to be a lot more productive at the plate in the third game of this series on Saturday afternoon at Tropicana Field. Baltimore will face an even tougher task against potential American League Cy Young award winner Shane McClanhan on Saturday afternoon. They are still in the thick of the American League East division title race and a win here on Saturday to secure at least a split of this four game series would be huge for the Rays. 

The Tampa Bay Rays picked up a huge bounce back win in the second game of this four game weekend series on Friday night. As starting pitcher, Zach Eflin had a dominating performance and shut down the Orioles offense as they did not score a single run in Friday night’s game against Tampa Bay. With all of the fire power their lineup possesses, they should have no problem bouncing back and with McClanahan starting this game for them they have the advantage in the pitching matchup as well. That is why I expect Tampa Bay to pick up the victory here on Saturday afternoon at home to guarantee at least a split of this four-game series.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Seattle Mariners – 4:10PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays have put together a decent season up until this point, but they will still have some work to do if they want to compete for a division championship at the end of the regular season. The Blue Jays come into the second game of this three game weekend series double digit games above .500 and they will continue to look to chip away at the lead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East and the lead of the Baltimore Orioles for the top spot in the American League wildcard race. 

The Seattle Mariners have been disappointing up until this point of the season. Over the last two years, they had won 90 games in each season and even made a playoff appearance last year. However, unless they get things together really quickly, they will be sitting at home when the postseason comes around in October this year. They did manage to pick up a huge victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night as they walked it off in the bottom of the ninth inning to grab a series opening victory. However, I don’t see lightning striking twice for Seattle as I look for Tampa Bay to bounce back here in game number two.
