Cincinnati Reds @ Pittsburgh Pirates – 1:35PM ET

Tony Battalio

After their game was postponed on Saturday this game on Sunday afternoon will serve as the first game of a day and night doubleheader for the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cincinnati Reds will be looking to wrap up this series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a win or two here on Sunday as they look to continue their push towards the postseason in the National League Central division. Cincinnati comes into this game with a record of 61-57 through their first 118 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league until a group of young rookies revived their season and put them on the path to making the playoffs. They will be looking to keep the momentum rolling with a victory here in Sunday’s opening game.

After a fantastic start to the season that ended up going nowhere Pittsburgh is just looking to get through the remainder of this year without looking too awful. Their best starting pitcher will be on the mound for this one as Mitch Keller gets the ball for the opening game of this doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds. Keller, being on the mound for this one gives Pittsburgh the advantage in the pitching matchup in the opening game of the doubleheader, and I expect them to exploit that advantage here on Sunday afternoon. That is why I have the Pittsburgh Pirates getting the win in the opening game of this doubleheader and giving themselves some momentum heading into the nightcap here on Sunday.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Pittsburgh Pirates

Los Angeles Angels @ Houston Astros – 2:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Angels will be looking to bounce back after they were blown out by the Houston Astros on Saturday night. At this point in the season, the Los Angeles Angels cannot afford to continue losing games as they are looking to make a late season playoff push. After refusing to trade away Shohei Ohtani at the deadline. It was the same identical results for the second game in a row this weekend as Houston put up 11 runs and held Los Angeles to three runs and posted a second consecutive victory. Now the Los Angeles Angels will be looking to salvage some momentum with a victory here in Sunday’s finale as they look to recover before heading into the middle of August.

The Houston Astros picked up a second consecutive identical victory in the middle game of this series on Saturday night. For the second consecutive evening, Houston put up double digit runs against the Los Angeles Angels, and they will be looking to make it three straight with another victory here on Sunday afternoon to all, but officially put the final nail in the coffin of the Los Angeles Angels playoff hopes at this point. Meanwhile, for Houston, they will be looking to gain some ground on the Texas Rangers for the top spot in the American League West division. That is exactly what I expect as I have Houston picking up another victory to officially complete the three game series sweep over Los Angeles.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Houston Astros (-150)

Milwaukee Brewers @ Chicago White Sox – 2:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Milwaukee Brewers picked up a close one run victory in the middle game of this series on Saturday afternoon. Now they will be looking to replicate that performance here on Sunday and take yet another game from the Chicago White Sox over the weekend. It was the second consecutive one run game in this series that Milwaukee has come out on top of and now they will be looking to complete the three game series sweep here on Sunday afternoon in the Windy City. It was a big victory for the Brewers as they extended their lead within the National League Central division, and they will be looking to extend it further with another win here on Sunday afternoon.

The Chicago White Sox had plenty of expectations coming into the season, but they do not have anything left to play for at this point in the year. They will be looking to salvage some momentum and grab a victory in the finale of this series on Sunday afternoon at home after a pair of consecutive one run losses to the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend. Unfortunately for the Chicago White Sox, I don’t see this game going much better for them against the Milwaukee Brewers. As I look for Milwaukee to grab the victory here on Sunday afternoon to officially complete the three games sweep in this series.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Milwaukee Brewers (-125)

San Diego Padres @ Arizona Diamondbacks – 4:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The San Diego Padres had a pretty rough performance on Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They failed to manufacture any type of production at the plate and it would end up costing them the game. Now they will be looking to bounce back in Sunday’s finale at Chase Field as they look to wrap up this series with a much-needed victory and grab some momentum heading into the week. Following the loss on Saturday, San Diego is now five games below .500 with a record of 56-61 through the first 117 games of the 2023 season. They will be looking to bounce back here in the finale to take two out of three games from Arizona on Sunday afternoon.

The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up a much-needed victory in the middle game of this three-game weekend series on Saturday night. It was a lights out performance by their likely National League Cy Young Award winner, Zac Gallen. They will be looking to pick up their second consecutive victory in this series and take two out of three games from the San Diego Padres, as Arizona looks to put themselves back in the National League playoff race. I expect the third game of the series to be a close and competitive match up between these two solid teams but in the end I have Arizona coming out on top.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Arizona D-Backs (+120)

Baltimore Orioles @ Seattle Mariners – 4:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Baltimore Orioles and the Seattle Mariners are playing. What is perhaps the most important series of the weekend. In Baltimore’s case they are playing against a fellow contender in the American League as they look to extend their lead in the American League East division. As far as Seattle is concerned, they are looking to pick up some big time victories as they look to make a late season playoff push and go for their third consecutive 90 win season as well. Both of these teams have been playing solid baseball as of late and the opening two games of this series have been just as great. Now both of them will come into the finale of this series looking to wrap up this weekend and gain some massive momentum heading into the remainder of August.

Baltimore has the best record in the American League at the moment and Seattle has been playing solid baseball as of late. The third and final game of this three game weekend series is likely to be just like the first two and be a close and competitive matchup throughout the majority of the contest. The pitching matchup for this one will feature Kyle Bradish taking the mound for the Baltimore Orioles and Bryce Miller taking the mound for the Seattle Mariners. With Bryce Miller taking the mound in this one for Seattle it gives the advantage to the Mariners in the pitching matchup. I expect them to exploit that advantage and pick up a victory here on Sunday afternoon.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Seattle Mariners (-105)
