Seattle Mariners @ Tampa Bay Rays – 4:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Seattle Mariners had a slow start to the season, but they picked it up as the year went on and now they find themselves on the verge of grabbing their third consecutive 90 win season, and potentially even their second consecutive playoff appearance as well. Seattle comes into the third game of the series against Tampa Bay on Saturday afternoon looking to pick up a crucial victory as they look to extend their lead in the American League West division here on Saturday afternoon on the road at Tropicana Field. Both of these teams have picked up a victory in this series so far and Seattle will be looking to clinch at  least a split here on Saturday afternoon.

Tampa Bay had an absolutely historic start to the season. The only problem is when you start that hot it is impossible to maintain. That is why they have fallen off a little bit and they are missing the production of potential American League, Cy Young award winner Shane McClanahan, and one of the best bats in the American League and all of baseball Wander Franco, as he has been out of the lineup for a couple weeks now. Despite all that Tampa Bay picked up a comfortable victory in the second game of the series on Friday night and then they will be looking to replicate that performance here on Saturday afternoon as well. Unfortunately for Tampa Bay, I have Seattle picking up the victory here in this one.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Seattle Mariners (+105)

Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox – 4:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

Baltimore picked up a solid victory over Boston in the opening game of the series on Friday night at Fenway Park. They will be looking to replicate that performance here on Saturday afternoon and officially clinch the series before heading into Sunday’s finale. If they can grab another victory here on Saturday afternoon, they set up the opportunity to sweep the Boston Red Sox and move one step closer to clinching the American League East division as they look to continue building up their lead against the Tampa Bay Rays coming down the final stretch of the season.

Boston will be looking to bounce back after their loss to Baltimore on Friday night, as they cannot afford to continue losing games if they want to back door their way into the playoffs for the final three weeks of the regular season. They continue to dig themselves a deeper hole in the American League wildcard race with each loss and at this point it would likely take a miracle to get the Red Sox into the postseason this year. Boston has gotten cold over the last week or so and unfortunately for them and has come at the worst point possible this season. As they have lost seven out of their last 10 on the year and three in a row, and I think they lose this game on Saturday as well to the Baltimore Orioles.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Baltimore Orioles (+125)

Pittsburgh Pirates @ Atlanta Braves – 7:20PM ET

Tony Battalio

Pittsburgh will be looking to bounce back after they were blown out by the Atlanta Braves in the opening game of their series on Friday night on the road in Atlanta. The Pirates didn’t stand much of a chance against a superior team like the Atlanta Braves, and they will be hoping they can put in a better performance in the second game of the series here on Saturday as they look to even up the series before heading into Sunday’s finale. They have been playing solid baseball as of late until running into Atlanta tonight and they will be looking to correct their mistakes from game one and pick up a quality victory here in game two.

The Atlanta Braves have been one of the best teams in all of baseball this season, and they kept the momentum rolling with their blowout victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the opening game of the series on Friday night at home. They will be looking to replicate that performance here on Saturday night and officially clinch the series before heading into Sunday’s finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates. I expect Atlanta to have another quality performance here on Saturday night and pick up another victory in the second game of this series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Atlanta Braves -1.5 (-130)

Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants – 9:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

It’s been a rough season for the Colorado Rockies and they are still in the beginning stages of a very long and lengthy rebuilding era for this franchise. Unless something changes rather quickly, they will likely lose over 100 games this season and lose any potential momentum heading into next season as well. Even with some consistent pieces on the roster they were not much of a competitive team this season as they have been the worst team in the National League West division by far and arguably the worst team in baseball this year as well. The Rockies come into this game already eliminated from the postseason.

It has been a somewhat successful season for the San Francisco Giants, and they will be looking to close it out on a positive note and make a playoff appearance this year as well. However, at the moment a massive losing streak has knocked them out of the top three wildcard spots in the National League and they will have to get things put together rather quickly before the train completely comes off the tracks and it’s too late. Luckily for the San Francisco Giants, I expect them to bounce back here in this game on Saturday night and pick up a crucial victory as they look to get their season back on track.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

SF Giants

Cleveland Guardians @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:07PM ET

Tony Battalio

Cleveland will be desperate to pick up a victory in the third game of this four game weekend series as they look to chip away at the Minnesota Twins lead in the American League Central division. They blew a massive opportunity on Thursday night in the opening game of the series and they dropped a half of a game to Minnesota, which put them even further in a hole coming down the final stretch of the season. Cleveland will have to get really hot down the stretch if they want to make the postseason and hope they can get some luck from Minnesota losing. This game, and every game from here on out is certainly a must win game for the team.

The Los Angeles Angels took a big gamble at the trade deadline this season when they didn’t trade away Shohei Ohtani and it did not pay off for them. Now they are all but officially eliminated from the playoffs and now Shohei Ohtani is hurt, and his impending free agency does not look good for the Los Angeles Angels. It seems more and more likely that he will leave this franchise, which could kick off a long and lengthy rebuilding era for this team. They were able to pick up a victory over Cleveland on Thursday night and they had a competitive game on Friday night as well. I expect Cleveland to pick up the victory here in this one on Saturday.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Cleveland Guardians (-120)
