Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets – 1:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

It was a fantastic start to the series for the Atlanta Braves on Friday night as they put up seven runs on the board against the New York Mets. They also shut down the New York Mets lineup as they held them scoreless throughout the entirety of the game on Friday night as well. Now they come into the second game of the series on Saturday and the opening game of the doubleheader with plenty of momentum. They will be looking to pick up another victory and clinch at least a split of this four game weekend series before heading into Saturday night’s second game.

The New York Mets will need to bounce back after they were shut out and blown out by the Atlanta Braves in the opening game of the series on Friday night. They will have two opportunities to get the job done here on Saturday and it starts with this afternoon game against Atlanta, where they will look to even up the series with a victory. New York has been outmatched by Atlanta throughout the majority of the season as in seven games against the Braves, New York has only managed to pick up one victory. I don’t expect them grab a victory here in the opening game of this doubleheader either as I have the Atlanta Braves, grabbing a second consecutive victory over the Mets.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Atlanta Braves

New York Yankees @ Miami Marlins – 4:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The New York Yankees picked up a solid victory in the opening game of the series against the Miami Marlins on Friday night. Now they will be looking to replicate that performance where they put up nine runs on the board here on Friday and pick up a second consecutive victory over the Miami Marlins to officially clinch this series. The Yankees can surely use every victory they pick up down the stretch and they will be happy to take advantage of a struggling Marlins team as they look to make a late season playoff push in the American League wild-card race.

The Miami Marlins suffered yet another loss and at this point it looks like they will not recover from their stretch of bad play since coming out of the All-Star break. Miami will be looking to bounce back in the middle game of this three-game interleague series here on Saturday afternoon as they look to even up this series before heading into Sunday’s finale against the New York Yankees. However, with the New York Yankees having all the momentum in this one and Miami yet again finding another way to lose I don’t see it happening. As I have the New York Yankees, picking up their second consecutive victory, and officially clinching this series against the Miami Marlins.

NY Yankees

Cleveland Guardians @ Tampa Bay Rays – 4:10PM ET

Tony Battalio

Cleveland put up a solid fight in the opening game of the series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night. They had a furious come back at the top of the ninth inning and Myles Straw hit his first home run in almost 2 years. However, a problem that has cost Cleveland several games came up again on Friday night as the bullpen gave away the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk off home run. Now Cleveland will be looking to bounce back in the middle game of this series and even up this series before heading into Sunday’s finale. They will have to be a lot better against this Rays lineup as both teams combined for 17 runs in the opening game of the series.

Tampa Bay had a comfortable lead on Cleveland throughout the majority of the game until the ninth inning came around. It was there that the Tampa Bay pitchers gave up several walks and wild pitches that allowed Cleveland to come all the way back and tie the game at 8-8. However, Wander Franco was able to hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth and the third pitch that he faced to help get Tampa Bay a much-needed victory in the opening game of the series. I expect Tampa Bay to get a second consecutive victory here on Saturday as well to officially wrap up this series and give themselves an opportunity to sweep Cleveland on Sunday.

Minnesota Twins @ Philadelphia Phillies – 6:05PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Twins are going through a rough patch at the moment as they were blown out by the Philadelphia Phillies in the opening game of the series on Friday night. It is the fourth consecutive loss, but luckily for them, Cleveland lost as well which means they will keep their distance from them in the American League Central division for the time being. Minnesota currently has a three and a half game lead over Cleveland in the division, and they will be looking to bounce back in the middle game of this three-game interleague series and extend that lead over the weekend. It’ll be the former Miami Marlins Pablo Lopez getting the ball in this game and he is familiar with Philadelphia. Minnesota will be hoping that helps them here in game number two on Saturday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies picked up a solid victory in the opening game of the series on Friday night. They put double digit runs on the board and continued the recent string of solid play as we come down the final stretch of the season. Now, Philadelphia will be looking to pick up a second consecutive victory in this three game weekend series to officially clinch the series before heading into Sunday’s finale. If they can manage to pick up a victory here on Saturday night, there is a really good shot that they will sweep the Minnesota twins on Sunday afternoon as well. That is exactly what I expect as I have Philadelphia grabbing a victory here on Saturday night against Minnesota.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Philadelphia Phillies (-115)

Baltimore Orioles @ Seattle Mariners – 9:40PM ET

Tony Battalio

Baltimore comes into the second game of the series looking to pick up a victory over Seattle and extend their lead as the best team in the American League record wise. They are building a solid advantage in the American League East division at the moment as they are starting to pull away from Tampa Bay after the Rays recent struggles, as they came into this series three games ahead of the rest of the division. However, they can’t afford to take their foot off the gas with this much baseball left to play as this division will likely not be decided until the final weekend of the season.

The Seattle Mariners have stepped up their level of play as of late as they look to make a late season playoff push. They will also be going for their third consecutive 90 wins season, and their second consecutive playoff appearance at the end of the regular season as well. They have moved well within striking distance of the third wildcard spot in the American League, and I have plenty of time to get themselves firmly asserted in one of those three spots as well. Grabbing a couple victories this weekend against Baltimore certainly will not hurt their case and I expect them to come out in this game and play a solid game of baseball. I do expect Seattle to grab the victory here on Saturday night as well, led by a solid performance by George Kirby on the mound.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Seattle Mariners (-160)
