Chicago White Sox @ Kansas City Royals – 2:10PM ET

The Chicago White Sox don’t have much left to play for this season after coming into the year with plenty of expectations. They certainly did not live up to those expectations of competing for an American League Central division title as they find themselves closer to last place then they are first place at the moment. This series against the Kansas City Royals is basically nothing more than playing for pride at this point in the season and giving your young guys a chance to show what they got in store for you in the coming years. Chicago will be looking to pick up a victory over a team that is even worse than them this season when they head to Kauffman Stadium to play the Royals on Monday night.

The same can be said for the Kansas City Royals however, they didn’t have as many expectations as Chicago did coming into the season. Kansas City was expected to be one of the worst teams in all of baseball this season and that is exactly what they have been throughout the year. They will likely lose over 100 games this season and they have a long way to go before their rebuild is complete and they are once again a competitive baseball team. Kansas City will somehow be looking to avoid the fate of losing triple digit games by stringing some victories together, and it starts with picking up a victory here on Monday night at home against Chicago. Unfortunately for Kansas City I don’t see that happening as I have Chicago grabbing the win here in this one.

Houston Astros @ Texas Rangers – 4:05PM ET

The defending World Series champions come into the opening game of this series, one game behind the Seattle Mariners for first place in the American League West division. They will be looking to pick up a quality victory over a struggling Texas Rangers team and bounce back after they were blown out by the New York Yankees in the finale of their series on Sunday night. Houston comes into this game with a record of 77-61 through their first 138 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They have picked up five victories in their last 10 games on the season but they are currently on a three game losing streak coming into Monday night’s game.

The Texas Rangers will be looking to bounce back after a rough series against the Minnesota Twins over the weekend. It has been a rough stretch of play for Texas over the last few weeks in general, as they have lost plenty of games and fallen out of first place in the American League West division, after leading the division for the majority of the year. Texas comes into this game with a record of 76-60 through their first 136 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. Luckily for them, they were able to grab some momentum after winning the finale of their series against Minnesota and I expect that momentum to carry over into a victory here on Monday as well.

Seattle Mariners @ Cincinnati Reds – 4:10PM ET

The Seattle Mariners have been one of the hottest teams in all of baseball over the last few weeks, and they have played their way into first place in the American League West division. They will be looking to keep themselves in first place when they open up the series against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday afternoon on the road. It will be looking to grab a crucial victory here on Monday night to extend their lead in the division over either the Texas Rangers or the Houston Astros, as they are playing each other throughout the week. Seattle has picked up six victories in their last 10 games on the season and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here in this one as well.

The Cincinnati Reds are currently caught in the middle of an up-and-down season, and they will be looking to grab some much-needed momentum in the opening game of this series at home against the Seattle Mariners. Cincinnati currently finds themselves right in the mix in the playoff race in the National League Central division of the National League wildcard race heading into the first full week of September. Cincinnati comes into the first game of this series three games above the .500 mark with a record of 71-68 through their first 139 games of the season. Unfortunately for Cincinnati, I don’t see them picking up the victory here on Monday as I look for Seattle to grab the wind on the road.

Boston Red Sox @ Tampa Bay Rays – 4:10PM ET

The Boston Red Sox will be looking to save their season in this upcoming series against the Tampa Bay Rays that is starting on Monday night at Tropicana Field. Boston comes into this game situated in fourth place of the American League East division is all but likely that they are out of the divisional race. However, they are only a handful of games out of the third wildcard spot in the American League and they can make up some serious ground with impressive performance during the week. Boston comes into this game with a record of 71-66 through their first 137 games of the season.

Tampa Bay had an absolutely historic start to the 2023 Major League Baseball season. As impressive as that was, when you have a start that is historic like they did, it is impossible to maintain. Unfortunately for the Tampa Bay Rays, not only did they fail to maintain that pace throughout the season but they have actually dipped under that pace over the last couple of weeks. It is clear that this team is feeling the effects of the absence of potential American League Cy Young award winner, Shane McClanahan, and superstar shortstop Wander Franco as well. As they are coming off of a rough series where they lost two out of three games to Cleveland. Luckily for Tampa Bay, I expect them to bounce back and pick up the victory here in this game on Monday night.

Baltimore Orioles @ Los Angeles Angels – 9:38PM ET

The Baltimore Orioles are having a very successful season, and they currently find themselves sitting on top of the best division in all of baseball this year. As they currently have a two and a half game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East division coming into the opening game of the series against Los Angeles on Monday night. Baltimore will be looking to further extend that lead with a quality victory here on Monday night in Los Angeles against a struggling Angels team that has seemingly given up on their push for the postseason this year. Baltimore comes into this game with a record of 85-51 which puts them among the best records in all of baseball this season. 

The Los Angeles Angels had a lot of potential coming into the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, this is something that has shown its ugly head before, as this team, regardless of how much talent possesses, cannot seem to get things together when it matters the most. They will likely miss out on the postseason once again this year, and they run the risk of losing out on Shohei Ohtani in the off-season as well. Losing out on Ohtani could trigger the beginning of a long and lengthy rebuilding process of Los Angeles and I don’t see it getting much better for them in this one as I have Baltimore picking up the victory here on Monday night.
