The Brew Crew lost on Thursday to the Phillies and that made it 6 straight home games lost. Things just aren’t going right for them at Miller Park at the moment so this trip could be a good thing for them and they start in the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Nationals.
The Nats were also swept out on the road in Miami and now will return home to take on an even stiffer test in these Brewers. This series provides the perfect opportunity for Milwaukee to get back in the win column and they won’t take it for granted. Washington has nothing to play for and isn’t very competitive at all at the moment.

The Detroit Tigers are sending out rookie pitcher Elvin Rodriguez on Friday to start up this series with the Blue Jays and are hoping for more success from their young right-hander this time out. His last start was a nightmare in Yankee Stadium where he gave up 10 runs on 11 hits in just 4.1 innings. It was said that he was tipping some of his pitches which led to the Yankees teeing off on him so I’m sure he’ll just up his technique and approach some in this game.
It will be needed against a Jays team that just took two of three from the Kansas City Royals and is 11-3 in their last fourteen games. It’s hard to see Rodriguez doing enough improvement in between starts to slow down this Toronto team that is firing on all cylinders right now and I think this game will not be close.

He pitched eight innings and helped secure the three-game sweep that moved the Rays to a season-high 11 games over .500. Another tough test awaits them now in this next series against the Minnesota Twins who lost in epic fashion to the Yankees on Thursday. Minnesota led 7-3 before letting up seven unanswered runs to end the game and lose. The game had nine total home runs and was one of the most insane offensive performances all season by either team.
I think the offenses will be much more quiet in this game with two great pitchers going at it. These two teams played a series earlier this season with the Twins taking two of three but I have to give the edge to the Rays on Friday. They are 6-2 in June and hitting their stride heading towards the summer so back them in this clash of two of the best teams in the AL.
