Cincinnati Reds @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. They have met once already this season in a four game series just over a week ago. They would end up splitting that four game series with two wins each.

The Cincinnati Reds are coming into the series as one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball. In the rare moments that they do find some consistency it doesn’t seem to last long as they quickly get back to their losing ways. At the moment however they have won three series in a row and will be playing their second series against the Miami Marlins in the last month. They come into game one of this three game series with a record of 40-61 through their first 101 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The Miami Marlins have been underwhelming this season as they come into this game eight games below the .500 mark heading into the month of August. They currently have a record of 47-55 through their first 102 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are in fourth place of the National League East at the moment as they are seventeen and a half games out of first place. They have lost six out of their last ten on the year and come into game one of this series on a three game losing streak.

It’s the start of August and we get a rematch of a series from last week as the Cincinnati Reds travel down to South Beach to take on the Miami Marlins. Last series these two played was a split of four games with each of the Reds’ losses being by just one run. Cincinnati then bounced back from that series by taking two of three at home against a scrappy Baltimore Orioles team. 

The Marlins on the other hand were swept out by the New York Mets who are one of the best teams in the league. Neither team is in a spot to contend for the postseason as we shift to the final two months of the season so it’s all just about pride and getting experience for the young guys at this point. Hunter Greene will get a redemption spot after dropping his last outing which was against these same Marlins on July 26. With the form and confidence the Reds will be riding coming in I like their chances in the series opener and will be backing them to get the victory.

The Miami Marlins are fourth in the NL East with a 47-55 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 0-3 loss to the New York Mets. Miami is ranked 24th in the league scoring 4.04 runs per game and 17th in the league allowing 4.38 runs per game. Jesus Lozardo will start for the Marlins tonight who is 2-3 for the season with a 4.03 ERA. Miami has lost 43 of the last 61 opening games of a series and the last 4 games played at home.

The Cincinnati Reds are fourth in the NL Central with a 40-61 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Baltimore Orioles. Cincinnati is 15th in the league scoring 4.50 runs per game and is ranked 28th in the league allowing 5.42 runs per game. The Reds will start Hunter Greene tonight who is 3-12 for the season with a 5.59 ERA. Cincinnati has won 10 of the last 18 opening games of a series and has lost 5 of the last 8 road games.

Seattle Mariners @ New York Yankees – 7:05PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. This is the first of two times these two franchises will meet this season. As they will meet again in seven days to play another three game series back in Seattle.

For a while the Seattle Mariners were the hottest team in all of Major League Baseball but they quickly cooled off when they faced off with the Houston Astros. Since coming out of the 2022 All-Star break they played the Astro seven times and only managed to pick up one victory over the course of those games. Now they move on to an even harder challenge, as they play the best team in the league, the New York Yankees. Despite the recent struggles Seattle is still in a great position to clinch a wildcard spot and make the playoffs for the first time in what seems like decades. As they come into this game with a record of 55-48 through the first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. 

The New York Yankees look set to win the 28th World Series this season. They have been far and away the best team in Major League Baseball so far this year and it doesn’t look like anyone is going to stop them anytime soon. They come into the first game of this series with a record of 69-34 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won five out of their last ten on the season but come into this one on a one game losing streak. I have them winning game one against the Mariners.

The road trip continues for the Seattle Mariners as the calendar flips to August but things will not be getting any easier. They are coming off losing three of four to the Houston Astros and now have to take on the New York Yankees who are the top team in baseball. New York will also be feeling pretty confident after closing the month of July out with an easy series win over the Kansas City Royals where they took three of four. 

The Yankees have won 9 of the past 11 meetings between these two teams and should continue that trend as Seattle has struggled to compete with the better teams in the league. I like the Yankees to cruise here and become the first team to reach the 70 win mark.

The New York Yankees are on top of the AL East with a 69-34 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 3-1 series win over the Kansas City Royals. The Yankees are on top of the league scoring 5.36 runs per game and are second in the league allowing 3.35 runs per game. The Yankees will start Domingo German tonight who is 0-1 for the season with a 8.22 ERA. They have won the last 6 games played on Monday and 41 of the last 53 home games.

The Seattle Mariners are second in the AL West with a 55-48 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-3 series loss to the Houston Astros. The Mariners are 23rd in the league scoring 4.09 runs per game and 5th in the league allowing 3.90 runs per game. Seattle will start Marco Gonzales tonight who is 6-10 for the season with a 3.66 ERA. Seattle has won the last 6 games against AL East opponents and 8 of the last 10 games when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Cleveland Guardians – 7:10PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Guardians will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. This is the first and only time these two teams will meet this season. So they both will be looking for a huge momentum boost in game one, and an advantage right out of the gate in the head to head series.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming into this game in the middle of an incredibly rough season for themselves. They have been in the basement of the National League West for the majority of the season as they come into this game with a record of 45-56 through their first 101 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently 23 games out of first place in the division and have lost four out of their last ten games on the season. They come into this series on a three game losing streak. 

The Cleveland Guardians picked up a huge win on Sunday to take two out of three from the Tampa Bay Rays. Now they will return home after a lengthy but successful road trip in my opinion. Despite the massive amount of youth this team has, they are in a great position to make a playoff run this year. With the trade deadline quickly approaching people expect them to make some moves as well to put themselves further into contention. They come into this game with a record of 52-49 through their first 101 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks could not back up their sweep of the San Francisco Giants and were subsequently swept by the Atlanta Braves this past weekend. The offense did not show up at all in that series as they could only muster up a total of 4 runs across the three games. Arizona will hope for better fortune in this upcoming series in Cleveland against the Guardians who took two of three from the Rays in Tampa and now are just one game back of the first place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. 

The good times should continue rolling in this one, as Cal Quantrill takes the mound for Cleveland and looks to build on his personal three-game winning streak and unbeaten record at home. The DBacks do not have any momentum at the moment and going up against a dangerous team with a lot to play for will not bode well for their chances.

The Cleveland Guardians are second in the AL Central with a 52-49 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Cleveland is 16th in the league scoring 4.48 runs per game and is ranked 14th in the league allowing 4.33 runs per game. The Guardians will start Cal Quantrill tonight who is 7-5 for the season with a 3.97 ERA. Cleveland has won 4 of the last 5 games when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game and 6 of the last 8 home games.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fourth in the NL West with a 45-56 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 0-3 series loss to the Atlanta Braves The Diamondbacks are 19th in the league scoring 4.31 runs per game and 23th allowing 4.67 runs per game. Arizona will start Zach Davies tonight who is 2-4 for the season with a 3.94 ERA. Baltimore Orioles @ Texas Rangers – 8:05PM ET

The Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. This is the second of two times these two franchises will meet this season. The first time these two teams played the Baltimore Orioles swept Texas in a three game series.

It’s been a pretty successful season for the Baltimore Orioles considering they basically climbed their way out of the dungeon in the American League East. While it is unlikely that they’ll find the postseason this year, they certainly have a bright future ahead of them and will be a playoff contender for many years to come. The Orioles come into this series with a record of 51-51 through their first 102 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They come into this series having won five out of their last ten games on the year but are currently on a two game losing streak. 

The Texas Rangers are coming into this series with a record of 46-55 through their first 101 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in third place of the American League West division but find themselves 20 games out of first place behind the Houston Astros. They have lost six out of their last 10 games on the year but come into this game on a one game winning streak. However, I expect them to lose game one of the series to the Baltimore Orioles.

It was a humbling weekend for the Baltimore Orioles who dropped two of three on the road to the Cincinnati Reds and lost ground in the AL wild card race. They are still in the thick of it, just 3 games back of the final spot but will need to make a big push here in August to set themselves up to really be in it come the final month of the season in September. A series against the Texas Rangers could be just what they need as the Rangers have been pretty bad and sit with a record of 46-55. 

Texas is coming in off a series win over the Los Angeles Angels though so it’s not like they are not still out there competing. Spenser Watkins should be able to get the job done on Monday night though as he has not recorded a loss in his past 7 starts dating back to May 11. I like Baltimore to get things back on track here and get a convincing win on the road.

The Rangers are 11th in the league scoring 4.61 runs per game and are ranked 19th in the league allowing 4.50 runs per game. The Rangers will start Jon Gray who is 7-5 for the season with a 3.62 ERA. Texas has won 5 of the last 7 games played on Monday and has lost 5 of the last 7 games after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Baltimore Orioles are fourth in the AL East with a 51-51 record. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The Orioles are 21st in the league scoring 4.24 runs per game and are ranked 12th in the league allowing 4.31 runs per game. Baltimore will start Spenser Watkins tonight who is 3-1 for the season with a 4.03 ERA. Boston Red Sox @ Houston Astros – 8:10PM ET

The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros will be playing the first game of their three game series in this one. This is the second of two times these two franchises will meet this season. The first time these two teams played the Boston Red Sox took two out of three from the Houston Astros in a three game series.

The Boston Red Sox are struggling to find themselves some footing in the American League East division. as they come into the series sitting in fifth place of the division despite the fact that they have a record that is only one game under the .500 mark. The Red Sox come into this series with a record of 51-52 through their first 103 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. Boston will be looking to take the series against a very good Houston team and get themselves back into the playoff conversation to start the month of August. 

The Houston Astros are coming off of a series where they took three out of four games from the Seattle Mariners over the weekend. They’ve been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball all season long and sit atop the American League West division at the moment. They currently hold a 12 game lead over the Mariners as they have won six out of their last 10 on the year and enter this game on a one game winning streak. I have them taking game one of the series as well against the Boston Red Sox.

This is the start of a seven-game road trip for the Boston Red Sox who dropped two of three to the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend. The 7-2 win for Boston on Sunday prevented them from being swept for the third time this month, with those other two occurring against AL East opponents. It’s been a huge disappointment for the Sox and they enter the final two months of the season in last place in the division and a game under .500. 

Their chances of pushing that record to a positive mark are not very high as they now get a series against the second-best team in the American League record wise. The Houston Astros bounced back from a shocking sweep at the hands of the Oakland As to win three of four against a very dangerous Seattle Mariners team. I think this is a good opportunity for them to keep the wins coming and possibly surpass the Yankees as the top team in the AL, so give me Houston to start this series off with a win at home.

The Astros have 5 of the last 7 games following a win and 40 of the last 57 games when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Boston Red Sox are on the bottom of the AL East with a 51-52 record. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Red Sox are 13th in the league scoring 4.58 runs per game and are ranked 24th in the league allowing 4.75 runs per game. Boston will start Nathan Eovaldi tonight who is 4-3 for the season with a 4.43 ERA. The Red Sox have won 19 of the last 26 games against AL West teams and 12 of the last 17 games after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game.
