Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles – 7:05PM ET

It has been a long season for the Boston Red Sox in after a successful start to the year the train came off of the tracks late in the season. They will be looking to curtail the Baltimore Orioles momentum before heading into the postseason over the weekend, as they look to grab a victory here on Friday night against the best team in the American League this season. Boston comes into the final three days of the regular season with a losing record as they currently find themselves in last place in the American League East division after stagnating around fourth place for the majority of the year. Boston comes into this game with a record of 76-83 through their first 159 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

Baltimore comes into this game on Friday night against the Boston Red Sox at home having already clinched the American League East division and the best record in the American League this season. Due to the fact that they have a top two record in the American League, they will avoid playing in the opening round of the playoffs next week, and I will get an automatic pass to the American League Divisional Series. It’ll be interesting to see how Baltimore responds after some time off until they play again but if they remain healthy and consistent, they have a legitimate shot to challenge for the American League pennant as well as the World Series this season. I expect them to grab a victory in this game on Friday night against the Boston Red Sox as well.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Toronto Blue Jays – 7:07PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays have already clinched themselves a spot in the playoffs this season however they will not be able to win the American League East division after leading the division for the majority of the regular season. They had a historic start to the regular season, but they were unable to maintain that consistency, and now they will find themselves competing on the opening week of the playoffs, and they will be looking to gain as much momentum as possible before heading into next week’s postseason. They have an opportunity to spoil the playoff hopes of the Toronto Blue Jays with some quality performances throughout the weekend as they could be directly responsible for Toronto missing out on the playoffs this year.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to officially clinch themselves a wildcard spot in the American League over the weekend. A victory in this game could all but guarantee them a secure spot in the postseason, but if they handle business throughout the weekend, there is no doubt that they will be competing for a World Series this season. They were expected to be one of the top teams in the American League this season and many people expected them to win the American League East division, but nobody could’ve predicted how good Tampa Bay and Baltimore would be this season. However, as long as Toronto remains healthy and consistent throughout the postseason, they are a legitimate threat to win the World Series. I expect them to grab a victory on Friday night against Tampa Bay at home in this game as well.

Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers – 8:10PM ET

The Chicago Cubs are up against the ropes when it comes to their National League wildcard hopes coming into this game on Friday night on the road in Milwaukee. An epic collapse by Chicago over the last week and a half has left them on the outside looking in and in need of some help if they want to make the playoffs this season. Chicago will absolutely have to win the remaining games on the schedule and they will have to get some help from a few other National League wildcard teams, coming down the final stretch of the regular season. Chicago comes into this game with a record of 82-77 through their first 159 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They are currently in fourth place of the National League wildcard standings.

Milwaukee has already clinched the National League Central division, and they will be looking to spoil the playoff hopes of the Chicago Cubs with a victory here on Friday night at home. They will also be looking to build up as much momentum as possible before heading into the postseason as they will be playing in the opening round of the playoffs, because they finished outside of the top two in the National League. The Milwaukee Brewers have been very consistent this season, and they are a sneaky team that has a legitimate shot at competing for the National League pennant. I expect the Milwaukee Brewers to grab a victory over the Chicago Cubs here on Friday night at home.

Cincinnati Reds @ St.Louis Cardinals – 8:15PM ET

The Cincinnati Reds playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread and they will have to win the remaining three games on their schedule, as well as get plenty of help from several other teams in the National League throughout the weekend. It has been a very up-and-down season for the Cincinnati Reds as they have had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows at several points throughout the season. It will be looking to pick up a crucial victory against the St. Louis Cardinals here on Friday night at Busch stadium as they look to keep their quickly fading playoff hopes alive heading into the weekend.

It has been an awful season for the St. Louis Cardinals after they came into the year with expectations of competing for the National League Central division title. Unfortunately, for the St. Louis Cardinals that has not been the case, and they have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball, and it seems very likely that they are heading towards a rebuild throughout the next several seasons. However, with a victory here on Friday night against the Cincinnati Reds, they still have an opportunity to spoil Cincinnati’s playoff hopes this season. Unfortunately for the St. Louis Cardinals, I don’t see them picking up the victory in this game as I have the Cincinnati Reds grabbing the win.

Texas Rangers @ Seattle Mariners – 10:10PM ET

The Texas Rangers will be looking to pick up a crucial victory over the Seattle Mariners and the second game of their four game weekend series here on Friday night in the Pacific Northwest. Texas is on the doorstep of closing out the American League West division, and they can do so with a crucial victory here on the second night of this series. Texas led the division for the majority of the season but they gave up control of the lead halfway through the month of August, but they were able to recover and regain first place coming into the final weekend of the regular season. Texas comes into the second game of the series, holding a two game lead over Houston and a victory would officially make them American League West division champions. 

The Seattle Mariners will be looking to pick up a crucial victory in the second game of the series on Friday night at home against the American League West division leading Texas Rangers. Seattle is in danger of missing out on the postseason, unless they handle business throughout the weekend and they can wrestle that third. American League wildcard spot away from the Houston Astros prior to the season coming to an end on Sunday night. This game here on Friday night is one of the most important games of the season especially after they won the opening game of the series on Thursday night and put themselves closer to the Houston Astros once more. Luckily for the Seattle Mariners, I expect them to pick up the victory here on Friday night to take another victory in this series.
