Houston Astros @ Washington Nationals – 7:05PM ET

The Houston Astros and Washington Nationals will be playing the first game of a three game weekend series in this one. This is a rematch of the 2019 World Series that the Washington Nationals won.

Tony Battalio

The Houston Astros are coming into this one sitting in first place in the American League West division. They currently have a record of 21-11 through their first 32 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They have won their last ten games in a row as they are absolutely on fire at the moment and rolling over everyone in their path. Starting for them in the first game of this three game weekend series will be Framber Valdez. He is 1-2 on the year with a 3.34 Earned Run Average.

The Washington Nationals are only a few years removed from that 2019 World Series victory but they look like an entirely different team in 2022. They come into this game with a record of 11-22 through their first 33 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a one game losing streak after dropping their series finale to the New York Mets on Thursday. They currently find themselves in last place in the National League East. As for the result of this one I am going with the Houston Astros to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Houston Astros (-158)

Jeffery Thomas

The Houston Astros and Washington Nationals will start up a weekend series on Friday in the nation’s capital. The Nats are coming off a series loss to the Mets, losing two of three, and in fact have lost every series this season except one. That one series they won was their second of the season, against the Atlanta Braves who are still riding a championship high. They are not a good team right now and with the Astros coming to town it could be a one-sided series. The Astros took a doubleheader on Thursday against the first-place Minnesota Twins and have now won 10 games in a row. I know the streak is bound to end at some point but there’s no way I’m going to pick against them in this spot against this bad Nationals team.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Houston Astros -1.5 (+114)

Marko Nadin

The Washington Nationals are at the bottom of the NL East with a 11-22 record. They have lost 6 of the last 8 games and are coming off a 2-1 series loss against the New York Mets. The Nationals are 15th in the league scoring 4.24 runs per game and 27th in the league allowing 5.28 runs per game. Washington will start their best pitcher so far in the season Josiah Gray who is 4-2 for the season with a 3.45 ERA. The Nats have won 9 of the last 12 home games and 7 of the last 10 interleague home games against a team with a winning record.

The Houston Astros are onne of the best teams in the past two weeks in the league. They are currently on top of AL West with a 22-11 record. Houston has won the last 10 games not allowing a single run in five of those. Houston is ranked third in the league allowing 3.08 runs per game and fourth in the league hitting 1.24 home runs per game. They will start Framber Valdez tonight who is 1-2 for the season with a 3.34 ERA. Houston has won 12 of the last 13 games following a win.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Houston Astros (-158)

Seattle Mariners @ New York Mets – 7:10PM ET

The Seattle Mariners and New York Mets will be kicking off their weekend series in this one. As these two teams are on entirely different paths at this point in the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

Tony Battalio

The Seattle Mariners came within a few games of making the Major League Baseball playoffs last season. Now this year is a chance to show the league that they belong. As they are a team loaded with a ton of young talent and potential. However, their inexperience is costing them so far this season as they come into this game with a record of 14-18 through their first 32 games of the season. They are 2-8 in their last ten games and currently in third place in the American League West.

The New York Mets have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball throughout the first month of the 2022 season. They come into this game with a record of 22-11 which puts them in first place of the National League East, which outside of the Mets may be the worst division in baseball this season. They are 6-4 in their last ten games. As for the result of this series’ opening game I am going with the New York Mets to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: New York Mets (-230)

Jeffery Thomas

The Seattle Mariners got Thursday off ahead of their road weekend series against the New York Mets as they try and get things back on track. It was a promising start to the year for Seattle but they have now lost 12 of 15 games and now have fallen to third-place in the AL West. The bad news is that this series won’t get any easier as the Mets are the top team in the National League and come in winners of three of their last four. They finished off their series with the Washington Nationals on Thursday with a 4-1 win as Taijuan Walker recorded his first win of the season.

The Mets hold almost every statistically advantage over the Mariners and it’s going to be likely a dominant display in this series by New York. In the opener Max Scherzer is taking the mound and anytime that is the case I’m looking to back the Mets, so it helps they are facing a struggling opponent. Give me the Mets to win this one big.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: New York Mets -1.5 (-110)

Marko Nadin

The New York Mets are on top of NL East with a 22-11 record. They have won 4 of the last 6 games and are coming off 2-1 series wins against Philadelphia and Washington. The Mets are the fourth-best defensive team in the league allowing 3.41 runs per game and are ranked 8th in the league scoring 4.52 runs per game. New York will start Max Sherzer tonight who is 4-1 for the season with a 2.92 ERA. The Mets have won their last 6 games played on Friday and 7 of the last 8 opening games of a series.

The Seattle Mariners are third in the AL West with a 14-18 record. They have lost 8 of the last 10 games and are coming off a 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. Seattle is ranked 20th in the league scoring 4 runs per game and are 19th in the league with 4.29 allowed runs per game. The Mariners will start Marco Gonzalez tonight who is 1-4 for the season with a 3.91 ERA. Seattle has won 6 of the last 7 games played after one day of rest and 15 of the last 21 games played on Friday.

Marko’s MLB Pick: New York Mets (-230)

Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10PM ET

The Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays will be opening up their weekend series in this one. As these two American League East division teams are expected to be two of the top contenders for the American League pennant.

Tony Battalio

It has been a rough week for the Toronto Blue Jays as they get ready to continue their flight south to Tampa Bay to play the Rays over the weekend. They were swept in a short two game series against the New York Yankees and now they will be looking to bounce back this weekend against the Rays. They come into this game with a record of 17-15 through their first 32 games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are currently on a four game losing streak as they find themselves in third place of the American League East.

The Tampa Bay Rays are having a decent start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season. As they come into this game with a record of 19-13 through their first 32 games. They are currently on a one game winning streak and are 7-3 in their last ten games on the season. They currently sit in second place of the American League East as they sit four and a half games behind the New York Yankees. As for the result of this one I am going with the Rays to get the win over the Jays.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Tampa Bay Rays (+106)

Jeffery Thomas

The Toronto Blue Jays needed the day off on Thursday to ease some frustrations from their two-game series sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees. In their two losses in that series, the Jays left 15 runners stranded and went just 1-for-13 with running in scoring position. Toronto has now lost 4 straught and comes into this series with their divisional foe six games back of first place in the AL East. The Tampa Bay Rays are directly above them, sitting just four games back, and had a losing streak of their own going before beating the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday in the series finale to avoid the sweep.

The Jays are better than their recent results would indicate and I think this is where they begin to show that. The ball will be in the right man’s hands as Kevin Gausman has been lights out for Toronto this season. He has a 3-1 record with a 2.13 ERA and has led the team to a win in each of his last four starts. Gausman has also gone at least six innings in those starts so I see them riding the horse deep into the game again and him leading them to a much needed victory.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-124)

Marko Nadin

The Tampa Bay Rays are second in the AL East with a 19-13 record. They are coming off a 4-2 tenth inning win over the Los Angeles Angels which put an end to their three-game losing streak. The Rays are 11th in the league scoring 4.35 runs per game and are ranked 23rd in the league with 4.45 allowed runs per game. The Rays will start Drew Rassmunesen tonight who is 3-1 for the season with a 2.89 ERA. Tampa Bay has won 5 of the last 6 games when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.

The Toronto Blue Jays are third in the AL East with a 17-15 record. They have lost the last four consecutive games, two against the Cleveland Guardians and two against the New York Yankees. The Blue Jays are 21st in the league scoring 3.93 runs per game and 20th in the league allowing 4.35 runs per game. Toronto will start Kevin Gausman who is 3-1 for the season with a 2.13 ERA. The Blue Jays have won 4 of the last 5 games played on Friday.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-124)

Cleveland Guardians @ Minnesota Twins – 8:10PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins will meet in this weekend series. These American League Central division rivals will meet in a three game series. This is the first time these two teams have met in the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

Tony Battalio

The Cleveland Guardians series finale against the Chicago White Sox was cancelled on Wednesday as the Guardians experienced a COVID-19 outbreak within the club. They are having an up and down start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season thus far as they come into this game with a record of 15-15 through their first 30 games on the year. They are 7-3 over the course of their last ten games as they sit in third place of the American League Central division, only two games behind Minnesota.

The Minnesota Twins have been a pleasant surprise so far this season. They come into this game with a record of 18-14 through their first 32 games of the season, as they are in first place in the American League Central division. However, their lead is quickly fading as they are on a three game losing streak and have only managed to win five of their last ten games. As for the result of this game I am going with the Cleveland Guardians to get the win.

Tony’s MLB Pick: Cleveland Guardians (+142)

Jeffery Thomas

The Cleveland Guardians will be well rested when this series starts up on Friday against the Minnesota Twins. Cleveland has been off since Tuesday due to their Wednesday game against the White Sox being postponed and a scheduled day off Thursday. The White Sox game was postponed due to a COVID scare within the Cleveland organization but it appears everything is figured out and they will be able to field their team in this one. It was a good run for them prior to the break, winning 5 of 7, so they will hope to stay on track. The Twins were feeling good after sweeping the Oakland Athletics but then ran into a buzzsaw and were swept by the Houston Astros. It was the first time the AL Central leading Twins were swept since a quick two-game series against the Dodgers last month and I’m expecting them to come out ready to bounce back in a big way.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (-168)

Marko Nadin

The Minnesota Twins are on top of the AL Central with a 18-14 record. They have lost the last three games tot he Houston Astros after winning the previous three agains the Oakland Atheltics. The Twins are 6th in the league allowing 3.61 runs per game and 22nd in the league scoring 3.83 runs per game. Minnesota will start Sony Gray who is 0-1 for the season with a 3.48 ERA. The Twins have won the last 9 games as home favorites and the last 7 games against AL Central opponents.

The Cleveland Guardians are seconde in the AL Cetnral with a 15-15 record. They have won 3 of the last 4 games and are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox. The Guardinas are fifth in the league scoting 4.93 runs per game and 24th in the league allowing 4.59 runs per game. Cleveland will start Aaron Civale tonight who is 1-2 for the season with a 9.45 ERA. Cleveland has won 6 of the last 7 games against an AL Central opponent and 4 of the last 5 road games.

Marko’s MLB Pick: Minnesota Twins (-168)

San Francisco Giants @ St.Louis Cardinals – 8:15PM ET

The San Francisco Giants and St.Louis Cardinals will be opening their weekend series in this one. As these two teams are expected to be towards the top of the favorites list to win the National League pennant. They both come into this one having a decent start to the season.

Tony Battalio

The San Francisco Giants are coming into this one on a lengthy five game winning streak that started in a series against St.Louis a week ago. Now they will be looking to continue that streak against the St.Louis Cardinals this time around in Busch Stadium. The Giants are coming into this one with a record of 19-12 as they are 5-5 in their last ten and currently find themselves in third place in the National League West.

The St.Louis Cardinals are coming into this game with a record of 17-14 through their first 31 games of the season. They are in second place of the National League Central division at the moment as they trail the Milwaukee Brewers by 2.5 games. They are also 5-5 in their last ten games on the season. As for the result of this one, I am going with the San Francisco Giants to pick up the victory.

Tony’s MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants (-120)

Jeffery Thomas

The surging San Francisco Giants will travel to the Midwest for a weekend date with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Giants are on a five-game winning streak and that streak coincidentally was started against these Cardinals last week. Those victories were by score lines of 13-7 and 4-3. During this span San Fran has outscored their opponents 41-18 while St. Louis is coming off a series loss to the Baltimore Orioles. They have now lost four of five games and their offense is just not clicking at the moment. In Thursday’s series finale loss, the Cards only scored 2 runs and mustered up just six hits as a club.

Logan Webb will get the start for the Giants and is looking for his fourth consecutive win. He won his last start which was against the Cardinals, but wasn’t particularly sharp in that one giving up four runs on eight hits. He should have a better time in this one, given the Cardinals recent struggles and I see the Giants offensive surge continuing against Jordan Hicks. These two ball clubs are heading in opposite directions and I’m taking the road team in this one to stay hot.

Jeffery’s MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants (-120)

Marko Nadin

The St. Louis Cardinals are second in the NL Central with a 17-14 record. They have lost 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 2-1 series loss to the Baltimore Orioles. The Cardinals are 9th in the league scoring 4.50 runs per game and 5th in the league allowing 3.51 runs per game. St. Louis will start Jordan Hicks tonight who is 1-2 for thes season with a 3.78 ERA. The Cardinals have won 7 of the last 8 games played on Friday and 13 of the last 17 opening games of a series.

The San Francisco Giants are third in the NL West with a 19-12 record. They have won the last 5 games and are coming off a series sweep against the Colorado Rockies. San Francisco is ranked third in the league scoring 5.05 runs per game and 8th in the league allowing 3.75 runs per game. The Giants will start Logan Webb who is 4-1 for the season with a 3.82 ERA. San Francisco has won the last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 9 of the last 11 games played on Friday.

Marko’s MLB Pick: St.Louis Cardinals (+102)
