Hot-hitting Ty France will be looking to extend his 12-game hitting streak as the Seattle Mariners (21-20) match up against the Boston Red Sox (22-20) at Fenway Park on Tuesday.
The Mariners took Monday’s series opener 10-1. Starter George Kirby went 6.2 innings for the win, allowing one run on eight hits.
Cal Raleigh was 3 for 5 with two home runs, three runs, and four RBIs in the win. Eugenio Suarez added a home run, two runs, and two RBIs. Rafael Devers went 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI for the Red Sox.
ON THE MOUND
Luis Castillo (2-1, 2.70 ERA) is in line to get the start for Seattle. The righty allowed three runs over five innings in his last start, a 4-3 road defeat against the Rangers on Wednesday. He took the loss, scattering eight hits while striking out nine.
Castillo is making his first appearance against the Red Sox this season. Castillo made one start against the Red Sox in 2022, a 2-1 road victory for the Reds on May 31. He allowed one hit over six scoreless innings, striking out 10 and walking three.
For Boston, RHP Nick Pivetta (2-3, 6.23 ERA) takes the mound. It’s his first appearance of the season against the Mariners. In his last start on May 9, Pivetta took the loss on the road against the Braves. He threw four innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking three in the 9-3 defeat.
