The Stanford Cardinal (11-14, 5-9 Pac-12) will try to overcome one of the NCAA’s top scoring defenses when they head to face the No. 4 UCLA Bruins (21-4, 12-2 Pac-12) on Thursday.
Stanford defeated the Arizona Wildcats 88-79 at Maples Pavilion on Saturday. Michael O’Connell was the key player with 22 points. The Cardinal fell to ninth in the Pac-12 Conference.
UCLA won their fourth in a row on Saturday at Matthew Knight Arena, beating the Oregon Ducks 70-63. Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the team. The Bruins are first in the Pac-12 Conference.
The teams are meeting for the last time this season. After winning the only prior season game against Stanford 80-66 at Maples Pavilion in December 2022, their third straight head-to-head victory, UCLA will be seeking a season sweep. Jaquez Jr. led the Bruins with 27 points. Spencer Jones had 18 points in the losing effort.
The Cardinal have been led this season by Jones, who is averaging 13.1 points per game. Meanwhile, Maxime Raynaud is grabbing 6.0 rebounds per game, and Harrison Ingram is dishing 3.6 assists.
