The No. 5 Texas Longhorns (20-5, 9-3 Big 12), one of the country’s top scoring teams, are on the road to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders (13-12, 2-10 Big 12) on Monday. Texas outplayed the West Virginia Mountaineers 94-60 at Moody Center on Saturday. Sir’Jabari Rice was the standout player with 24 points.
The Longhorns are first in the Big 12 Conference. Texas Tech got the win on Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena, beating the Kansas State Wildcats 71-63. De’Vion Harmon had 20 points to lead the team. The Red Raiders are ninth in the Big 12 Conference.
The teams are meeting for the final time this season. Texas will be aiming for a season sweep against Texas Tech after earning the win in the only earlier matchup 72-70 at Moody Center on January 14. Marcus Carr led the Longhorns with 20 points, while Rice added 18 points. Pop Isaacs had 23 points in the loss.
The Longhorns have been led this season by Carr, who is averaging 16.9 points per game. Carr also has dished 4.0 assists per game. Meanwhile, Timmy Allen is grabbing 5.2 rebounds.
Kevin Obanor and Harmon have supplied much of the Red Raiders’ offense, averaging 15.1 and 13.3 points per game, respectively. Obanor also has averaged 6.3 rebounds per game, while Harmon has doled out 3.6 assists per game.
With 80.0 points per game, the Longhorns are one of the highest-scoring offenses in the country (25th). The Longhorns have come up short more often than not in recent games at United Supermarkets Arena, losing seven of the last 10.
