The No. 7 Texas Longhorns (8-1), one of the NCAA’s top shooting teams, play host to the Stanford Cardinal (3-6, 0-2 Pac-12) on Sunday. Stanford was defeated by the Arizona State Sun Devils 68-64 at Desert Financial Arena on December 4, their third loss in a row.
With 13 points, Spencer Jones was the top scorer in the loss. Harrison Ingram added 12 points and five assists. The Cardinal dropped to 12th in the Pac-12 Conference.
Texas triumphed on Monday at Moody Center, beating the Rice Owls 87-81. Marcus Carr had 28 points to lead the team. The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Texas came out on top in the only game between the teams last season 60-53 at T-Mobile Arena in December 2021.
Andrew Jones led the Longhorns with 13 points, while Dylan Disu played a key role with 11 points. Ingram had 15 points and seven rebounds in defeat. Jones (10.6 ppg), Michael Jones (10.4), and Ingram (10.1) are leading the Cardinal in scoring this season. Ingram also has dished 3.2 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Maxime Raynaud is grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game.Carr (15.4 ppg) has been the primary provider of the Longhorns’ offense. Carr also has tallied 4.0 assists per game. Timmy Allen has averaged 6.2 rebounds per game.
The Longhorns are shooting 49.2% from the field on the season, ranking as one of the most accurate field goal shooting teams in the nation (27th).
