The No. 10 Texas Longhorns (17-4, 6-2 Big 12), one of the country’s top scoring teams, play host to the No. 17 Baylor Bears (16-5, 5-3 Big 12) on Monday.
Baylor squeaked by the Arkansas Razorbacks 67-64 at Ferrell Center on Saturday, their sixth win in a row. Keyonte George was the standout player with 24 points.
Texas lost on Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena, falling to the Tennessee Volunteers 82-71. Sir’Jabari Rice had 21 points in defeat, carrying the team.
This marks the only meeting of the season between the teams. Baylor won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 68-61 triumph at Frank Erwin Special Events Center in February 2022, their sixth straight head-to-head victory. James Akinjo led the Bears with 19 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
Christian Bishop had 13 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks in the loss. The Bears have been led this season by George, who is averaging 17.2 points per game.
Meanwhile, Jalen Bridges is grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game, and Adam Flagler is dishing 4.4 assists.Marcus Carr’s 17.3 points per game have powered the Longhorns on offense. Carr also has recorded 4.2 assists per game.
Timmy Allen has collected 5.1 rebounds per game.The Longhorns rank as one of the top scoring offenses in the nation, 25th-best with 80.0 points per game. In the last 10 games, Baylor is 7-3 with an average margin of +5.0 (77.1-72.1).
