The Seton Hall Pirates (12-8, 5-4 Big East) will try to slow down one of the nation’s top scoring teams when they host the No. 20 Marquette Golden Eagles (15-5, 7-2 Big East) on Saturday.
Marquette defeated the Providence Friars 83-75 at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday. With 21 points, Kam Jones was the leading scorer. Tyler Kolek chipped in with 19 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. The Golden Eagles are second in the Big East Conference.
Seton Hall won their fourth in a row in a close one on Wednesday at Prudential Center, beating the UConn Huskies 67-66. Kadary Richmond led the team in scoring with 18 points. With 14 points and eight rebounds, KC Ndefo also produced a strong performance. The Pirates remain fifth in the Big East Conference.
The teams are meeting for the final time this season. Marquette will be seeking a season sweep against Seton Hall after taking the only prior meeting 83-69 at Fiserv Forum in December 2022, their third straight head-to-head victory. Oso Ighodaro led the Golden Eagles with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks.
Dre Davis had 15 points in defeat. Jones and Olivier-Maxence Prosper, averaging 16.1 and 14.4 points per game, respectively, are leading the Golden Eagles in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Kolek is dishing 7.8 assists per game, third-most in the nation, and Ighodaro is grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game.
Al-Amir Dawes and Tyrese Samuel have powered the Pirates’ offense, averaging 11.9 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Samuel also has collected 6.2 rebounds per game. Richmond has distributed 3.7 assists per game. The Golden Eagles are one of the top scoring offenses in the NCAA, ranking 14th with 82.7 points per game.
