The No. 23 Creighton Bluejays (15-8, 9-3 Big East) will try to break down the top scoring defense in the Big East Conference when they are on the road to face the Seton Hall Pirates (15-9, 8-5 Big East) on Wednesday.
Creighton topped the Villanova Wildcats 66-61 at CHI Health Center Omaha on Saturday, their sixth win in a row. Trey Alexander led the way with 27 points. The Bluejays remain third in the Big East Conference.
Seton Hall won their third in a row on Sunday at Prudential Center, beating the DePaul Blue Demons 69-64. Kadary Richmond and Tyrese Samuel led the team in scoring with 14 points apiece. With 12 points and five steals, Al-Amir Dawes also played a part.
The Pirates remain fifth in the Big East Conference.It’s the last meeting of the season between the teams. Creighton will be pursuing a season sweep against Seton Hall after earning the win in the only prior matchup 83-61 at CHI Health Center Omaha on January 3.
Ryan Kalkbrenner led the Bluejays with 17 points and six blocks. Femi Odukale had 16 points in the losing effort.Alexander (13.5 ppg), Kalkbrenner (13.2), and Baylor Scheierman (13.0) are leading the Bluejays in scoring this season.
Scheierman also has grabbed 8.3 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Ryan Nembhard is dishing 5.3 assists per game. Dawes and Samuel have powered the Pirates on offense, averaging 12.0 and 10.4 points per game, respectively.
Samuel also has posted 5.7 rebounds per game. Richmond has tallied 4.0 assists per game.
The Pirates rank as the top scoring defense in the league with 64.0 points per game allowed.In the last 10 games, Creighton is 8-2 with an average margin of +11.2 (77.3-66.1).
Seton Hall has also gone 8-2 over the last 10, scoring 70.5 points per game on average while holding opponents to 64.3 (+6.2 margin).
